With the planned changes in reducing weight that Dickson runs through, does anyone think that will affect performance at all (or is it nominal)?

Weight reduction is always a good thing with lots of performance benefits (acceleration, braking, etc) but I'm wondering how much needs to be lost off a 4800lbs vehicle to see a 5% range improvement?

Someone good at maths might know.

And I'm wondering more about acceleration than range.

Decent article, even though there's no new information. Saves you the torture of watching a Munro video. ? ?
Most of the comments are surprisingly reasonable, too. At least as of this posting.

Hopefully someone will post the official 22 changes when available. I have a 21 on order but would wait for a 22 if the price is the same or less and they make some major improvements. I don't have a build date yet.

I would highly doubt there'll be "major" improvements

I've had my car on a gas free diet but it still hasn't lost weight.
Will it put on weight with age?
Should I take it to a cartrionist?

So there are two factors from weight, rolling resistance and resistance to acceleration. The answer is going to change depending on how fast you're going, and how much accelerating you're doing (constant speed, hills, etc). I did my maths and came up with 390 lbs reduction @65 MPH to get 5% more range. If you ignore rolling resistance and just focus on acceleration (such as going up a hill), reducing the overall weight 5% will increase the range about 5%, which would be like 250 lbs.

Either way, aero and motor efficiency are much more important than just raw weight. A 5% increase in the powertrain efficiency or drag coefficient would be huge.
