I just watched a portion of the latest episode of All Girls Garage - Mach E vs Mustang and the girls installed Borla's new Active Performance Sound for Electric Vehicles underneath the Mach-E. The rep on the show said that there will be up to 1000 sounds available and users will be able to customize their sound.

The girls decided to make the Mach-E sound like a an ICE Mustang which I thought was super cringy but whatever. 🤷‍♂️ I'd love to see a wide variety EV performance sounds available instead of trying to mimic EVs sounding like they're powered by gas.

I'm thrilled to see the aftermarket make something like this but I'm sure that this will probably be a polarizing mod.

It looks like this system will be available for purchase sometime this fall.

There's a huge speaker that goes underneath the Mach-E right where an exhaust tip would normally be.

Thanks @RockwallRick for the heads up that this episode would be airing.

Have they dynoed it yet?

I’m in if it adds at least 25 hp to the wheels.

We finally have a chance to reduce noise of our roadways with EVs and of course someone slaps a pointless speaker on it lol
True. The nice thing is that you can turn the volume up / down and off.

I also think that under normal every day driving this would be an annoyance (to me) but it is extremely appealing at track events, car shows and when hooning around some farm roads with car friends.

What’s the appeal in those cases? It is artificial noise. You could get the same effect at home with some speakers playing vroom vroom noises.

For performance driving situations the quiet is actually beneficial IMO since you can more easily hear how much grip you have on the road.

I love this ... not because I want to have it on all the time, which is the nice part that you can control it, but because I can confuse the crap out of people and piss off all the cry babies.

My name went on the "notify when available" list.

Where I live, people a bit younger than I, often times outfit their diesel trucks with train horns. My neighbor (in acres terms) has a son who's friends always drive by and blast the horn. I giggle each time I hear it because I know there's someone around here who's skin crawls with anger.
