Tony M from Melbourne Australia here fellow MACH-E-ites - on Friday December 22 I took possession of a RED MACH-E Premium - FORD Australia say it was 1st MACH-E delivered to an Australian Customer although I cannot verify that.

I am based in Melbourne Victoria - hoping to pick up some great intel as I follow this forum.

I have only driven 300kms so far but OMG this vehicle has knocked my socks off. Currently in process of finding a Type 2 home charger - not sure if other forum members could share advice as which brand to target.

I will also add a pic or 2 to show the rego plates I secured - might grow in value some day - who knows - anyways happy New Year to all and I am really looking forward to being part of the forum.

Welcome - glad to see these are making their way to Australia. I’ve been very happy with my ChargePoint Home Flex, but from looking at the Amazon Australia site, it doesn’t look like it’s officially sold there. I didn’t see any EVSE name I recognize. I’d therefore strongly consider the Tesla wall plug since Tesla uses the same charging ports as the Mach-E in Australia - this from Tesla Australia.

Since you’re in Melbourne, I wanna see a clip of the first hook turn in a Mach-E

Wow, that's awesome! A new continent! Now @Administrator can add an Australasia section in the Regional Forums. ;)

Congrats, @Tony M OZ. I think your vehicle has the same Mennekes + CCS Type 2 setup that's used in Europe? If so, you may want to post a question in the Europe or UK subforums to see what people recommend. I think Australian power outlets aren't the same though, so keep that in mind, and your AC voltage is 240 instead of 230 (Europe). So your best bet is a product specifically designed for the Australian market. @ARK's recommendation for a Tesla wall plug is probably best.

Hi Tony
Gald to hear someone finally got their order! My GT actually arrived in Australia early November but Ford told the dealer they are holding them back for a critical software update and waiting for the official 'launch' so I'd be keen to know more about your delivery. What dealer in Vic? I've had no date or details at all since before Christmas now and really hope I get my car soon.

Regarding charging, I have one of these installed.

Can draw off the solar as well as grid power.

Congrats on the new Mustang Mach E! Love the plates (I always thought Australia had the long, skinny European number plates, not the narrower, taller North American number plates).

Thanks to everyone for your response - @Jimrpa in particular you are kinda correct - standard plates are as shown below - this is actually plate of my Lexus NX350 F Sport that MACH-E is replacing - but our State Registration Authority VIC ROADS has a CUSTOM PLATE site where you can design your own plates (with restrictions obviously).

Very cool! Your custom plates are expensive! I think ours are less than USD$100

Bit of background - I had this MACH-E on order since 18/03/2021. I contacted Ford Australia at that time when I heard a whisper that they might be bringing the MACH-E to Australia - they suggested I contact Bayford in Epping Victoria which I did.

I told them I just want to place an order so I get first dibs if they do ever arrive in Australia - $500 fully refundable deposit got me first slot on waitlist.

I was born into a professional transport family / business and I always wanted a Mustang but I just could not bring myself to purchase a rumbling V8 that would deliver 5 gallons to the mile (Fuel efficient vehicles paramount in transport business).

Fast forward many years and in March 1999 I imported the first ever commercial shipment of Electric Bicycles to Australia and pioneered that industry. Til today we are the largest independent Importer / Distributor of Electric Bicycles up against all the big boys Giant, Merida, Specialized, Kalkhoff etc

It was a logical extension that I would purchase an electric vehicle when the right one came along - TESLA (yawn) - BYD (saw plenty in China and maybe) - LEXUS (have purchased my first and last Lexus) - so along comes MACH-E BINGO this is what I must have.

Early May 2023 Ford offically announced MACH-E coming to Australia and customers could place official Order and reserve a unit which I did and paid up another $1,000 deposit.

On November 17 2023 Bayford called me and said 'Great news Tony - we have demo MACH-E coming to our dealership next week so you can come test drive?'

My response was 'Sorry but next weekend is the one weekend of the year where myself and my 10 sisters get together for our annual siblings get together so no can do.

On December 13 Bayford called me again and said 'Great news - we have your RED Premium MACH-E ready to deliver to you next week'. After some to and fro between myself and Bayford accounts team who were not that keen on accepting $100K payment via Credit Card (miles miles miles) but we eventually got there and I collected new MACH-E at midday on December 22.

Before collection I had never driven one before but I did have a ride in one - I arrived into Amsterdam Airport on October 25 2023 and headed to taxi rank - lo and behold the taxi I got was a Black MACE-E - pretty cool I thought.

Absolutley awesome! We have a GTPE and model y both charged on a juice box 40 plug in. Excellent unit but the app sucks. Its hooked up to a 50a breaker. Never a problem in 2 yrs. Good luck with the MME.
