I like the exterior, but then saw the interior pics and thought, "did they hire someone from Japan to design that?". (No, I'm not a fan of Asian car designs)

You are 100% correct. At $60k and the specs BMW is offering, it makes it a no-contest vs MME 4X at a similar price point.
After owning multiple BMW a couple of things I would need to consider. I owned first generation x3 and was very disappointed. Had many issues, seats were very uncomfortable, multiple recalls, and other issues. Also, you would think that at that price it would come with lots of neat features but by the time you get a decent configuration you normally find to get off the lot costs a lot more. So I will be presently surprised if you can really get a well equipped 60K iX3. If so I would be interested but I would wait a year to get the kinks out based on my experience.

I almost laughed out loud when I saw the front of the car. It’s literally a pig.

im sure everthing else about it is amazing. But that front grill… wth were they thinking?

Well the article states a 0-60 in 4.7s , so I don't think the BMW is going to be a street racer.
I’m not even that old, but I remember a time when I would have assumed that the sentence above 👆 had a typo. 0-60 in 4.7!!!???

I like the specs, but I find the exterior design of the car to be pretty boring and uninspired.
Ever since I first saw it from behind I can’t get over the fact it looks like a minivan from behind. I don’t know what it is about the shape that makes me think that, but it’s all I can see.

Clearly it’s SUV from all other angles.

I was looking at an i4 the other day. Why? Well it was parked 2 spots over from my Mach-e. There was nothing between the two cars.

Anyway, I looked at the grill and realized it was the least offensive of their grills. And still incredibly ugly.

Doubling down on bad aesthetics doesn’t make them good.
Yeah the i4 is probably the least bad but still…. The “big grill” thing has been going on for years now. Haven’t heard a lot of support for it though.

yeah, a pig's nose. Imagine it without that and it's not bad otherwise up front. I don;t mind the rear but the side view looks kinda 90's suv or even minivanish.

Looks are always subjective, but based on its 800v architecture at least if one pulls next to you when charging your mach-e you wont have to look at it for long as it won't need to hang around for 40minutrs to get a charge ;)

As ford have no plans for a 800v platform in this class and have unfortunaly reverted to type by losing all interested in the mach-e and extending its life so its customers slowly disappear, this ticks many a box as a potential replacement. If it truly gets close to an epa 400 miles of range then that is a game changer for a vehicle in this size segment.
That is provided that the charger supports 800v. Right now, if you are only going to be looking for 800v chargers in the US, you are going to be back "charging deserts" like back in 2021.

Here is a link to a review by Tomas on his Autogefühl YouTube channel. It’s interesting. I think he has a bias towards German cars but I also think he treats other brands fairly. And, his reviews are not hysterical with a lot of drama, fluff and nonsense. Personally I think the car looks better in his video than in still images. His guesstimate is the starting price for the AWD big battery version will be ~ €69,000.
that’s about $81,000 USD. Whether it’s worth that is in the eye and wallet of the beholder.

Yeah, and a starter home is now about $500k. The last BMW I had - a 2016 X6 was almost $70k, 9 years ago.

Oh, God; what has BMW done. I hate their current design and this "upgrade" (and I use that term loosely) does nothing but make me think........"you'd have to pay me to drive that hideous looking monstrosity". I can certainly get on-board with their specs, just not their aesthetics. This is a Mach-E forum and we bought these over the Model Y, as most of us appreciate it's appearance!!

and the back of the envelope price guesstimate doesn’t take into account the effect of tariffs if the US version is built in Europe.
