Wife and I just got back from test driving a 2025 GT and a 2025 Premium AWD. I must say, I just absolutely love the car. I had driven my friend’s 2024 RWD Premium previously and fell in love with it. I wanted my wife to experience it too. She’s previously only been a passenger in the Mach E and wasn’t as in love with it as I was. So I wanted her to actually experience driving it.

First we drove the GT. I asked the salesman if I could punch it. He said “sure!” I think I about gave my wife a heart attack! But I had the biggest smile on my face. I’ve never driven a car that fast before. My friend’s RWD Premium was crazy fast to me too, but this GT takes it to an entirely new level.

After the GT we drove the premium. One thing I wanted to check out was the backseat and the suspension tweaks I had read Ford made. In my friend’s 2024, the backseat is crazy bouncy and makes my wife nauseous. Your head almost hits the ceiling when going over certain bumps. So when we switched off in the test drive when my wife got behind the wheel, I decided to sit in the back seat. I must say the backseat suspension feels totally different in the 2025. Going over bumps felt completely fine and felt like any normal car with a decent suspension. No crazy bouncing as we had experienced in our friend’s older Mach E.

One thing we are torn on is the seat comfort between the GT and the Premium. I don’t know that I like the side bolstering on the GT. It hugs you kinda tight, especially for someone like myself and my wife who are on the larger side. But….the bottom seat cushion comfort felt better on the GT than on the Premium. So while I liked the more open sides of the premium seats, I liked the bottom cushioning better on the GT seats. I am not sure which car I’d be more comfortable in on a long road trip. This is gonna be a tough decision…

Both my wife and I love our Mach-E, but both of us like being in the driver’s seat more than being a passenger. And that even goes for how you feel about it as far as it being a smooth drive or not.

I don’t think you really can go wrong no matter what you decide.

if money ain't a problem go with GT.
The money isn’t a concern. Just not sure which seats I’d be happier in on a day to day basis. And especially if I ever took a longer road trip. Kind of hard to judge comfort with two short test drives. I may just need to go back and ask to sit in each one for 20 mins or so

Better brakes, suspension, handling, black headliner (doesn't get stained like the light grey), looks way better, and being able to leave 95% of the cars on the road in the dust off the line is fun. I personally hated the premium seats myself, but I like big side bolsters and feeling held in place in a car. I've personally done 8-9 hour trips in mine and found it fairly comfortable.

Drove both for an extended period. Couldn’t handle the bounce in the premium (mine was a 22). GT makes a world of difference. Just make sure to also open the extra torque and get the most aggressive tires you can live with (for me, it’s pirelli p0 in the summer and Michelin x-ice in the winter). It’s a completely different car. I find the GT seats way more comfortable even when I’m a bigger guy.

The seat cushion will make more of a difference than the bolsters on long drives.

Plus the better suspension on the GT will help comfort as well.

The extra power and better looks are just a bonus at that point.

Never in my life have I regretted getting the “better one” of anything.

MANY times have I regretted getting the middle of the line model.

being a guy that loves any headliner that ISN'T black...how does one "stain" the headliner?

My wife drives a 2022 MachE GTPE and I drive a 2023 BMW iX. Whenever we take her car, I comment on how much more comfortable her seats are than those in my BMW.

I am 6'2" and 215 lbs. I find her seats to be extremely comfortable and have no problems on longer drives.

Living in the South, for me the benefits of the GT along with the added expense wasn't worth losing ventilated seats of the premium (AWD ext. range). 2025 ride is smooth enough for me and the power is plenty.

We go back and forth about whether the rear seat ride is better in Engage or Unbridle mode in our 2025 GT but either is better than Whisper and all modes are much less vomit-inducing for backseat passengers than our 2024 Premium.

I have heard that the Rally is more comfortable still but it gives up enough range we didn't bother to test drive it. Maybe if we had I would be rolling in style now with some 1980s looking white rally wheels.

The more I think about it, the more I would recommend the GT for you. In 2024 we compromised and got a Select because there was something we didn't like about the Premiums that were available at the time. One year later, we decided to trade it in and get the exact Premium configuration we wanted.

If money isn't the issue, then go for the GT because I don't think the seats will make that much difference in comparison to all the other things on the GT over the Premium you would like.

One thing I will say is, the GT is going to give you more excitement, but it won't be as comfortable to drive as the Premium is because of the stiffer suspension setup. But the GT offers an amazing driving experience overall.
