Update: Tip drivers? Let dealer put 500 miles on delivering or I spend $1000?

they left at 2am this morning, one guy driving my car and second following for return trip.

It will be about 12 hours here with 3 charging stops and then about 9 hours back.

how much do you think is a reasonable tip for the drivers assuming things went well?

Just bought (leased) 2025 Mach E from dealer 500 miles from my home. They received quotes of $1000-1200 to transport. They are willing to drive it for delivery which will put about 550 miles on it at no cost to me.

Have them drive it. Ideally, they would start the lease 550 miles later.

Lease paperwork already processed, but I went with 12k miles per year and can spare the 500 miles over 3 years

Why not go with a friend or spouse and just pick it up and enjoy the drive home learning the new ride?

Definitely let them drive it, that way during the trip if there are any issues they'll be the first to see them.

Thanks for the input. Car arrived, drivers tipped about 12% of quoted cost and very appreciative.

Sounds like a very fair and reasonable amount. I’m sure it was greatly appreciated, and saved you a lot of money and time, plus the aforementioned check for issues. Everybody wins. Congratulations on the new ride, odds are you will really love driving it. I still do.
