Has to be some kind of warranty, car needs parking at dealer and threats of the legal action you like over the pond.

Don’t you have consumer law over there?

Isn’t there some kind of Satisfatory Quality clause you can rely on to reject?

Or fitness for purpose clause?

Surely car’s not as free from even minor defects and was not as sufficiently durable at time of sale as you’re entitled to reasonably suspect?

I think the purpose of a cpo is to avoid this very situation. Thats why you pay more. There is no way this car should be that bad, if they actually
  • ā€œInspection & Refurbishment: Vehicles must pass a comprehensive, multi-point inspection (often 100+ points) and are repaired to meet manufacturer standards.ā€
  • I don’t know if the lemon law is applicable, but seems like false advertisement to me. I would consult a lawyer. If your local dealer is top notch, you could stick with them till the car is completely redone. At that point you would have an awesome car good till the wheels fall off. I don’t know if ford would get involved to help. Normally no with a used car, but being a cpo, maybe?

OP, I didn’t read all of your very very very long post. But if your car is CPO then it should have at least a very limited bumper to bumper warranty to fix the mechanical issues.

I have a Job 1 ā€œFirst Editionā€ and it is phenomenal. But it took quite a few software updates, and a few warranty fixes, to get it there.

If the CPO warranty doesn’t cover software updates, so what? You likely got a SCREAMIN deal buying this as opposed to buying a ā€œnewā€ car. So spend $500 of the more than $10k you saved and spend it on a Ford mechanic completely updating your software.

It's probably missing a gazillion updates.

I also have a 2021 job 1. The original software absolutely sucked. Lots of bugs and problems. But nearly all of that is fixed now. PAAK has been working well and very few glitches outside of it randomly switching modes from unbridled to engaged. Get the software updated, make sure the 12v battery has been replaced and see if your problems go away.

What the heck kind of dealer would not be able to sell a brand new Mach-E for four years?

And yes, you will face significant challenges trying to get that car updated since it sat that long without getting updates. It will probably need a new APIM since the version you have is probably too old and now locked (the security certificates are likely all expired, which prevents any updates).

To sum up your post:
* I didn't know enough to ask if software was current
* I'm really seriously hung up on $100
* My dealer is awful

Did I miss anything?
-Yes, I wrongly assumed a certified pre-owned Mach-E would have been updated past the STOCK software from job 1 Mach-E’s. I own that I didn’t research the software and VIN enough.

-Yes, I’m hung up on $100 and weeks of inconvenience for a car that again is supposed to be refurbished yet has had like six things fail in 20 days and most were pre-existing defects that weren’t disclosed by the dealership.

-Yeah, they are pretty awful.

Hey Brian (not AI), Feel free to jump in and help this guy!!!

Go ahead and tell us the Dealer Name, I think it's better to out these crappy dealers to at minimum put some pressure on them and keep our Forum Members from having to go down the same nightmare rabbit hole that unfortunately you are dealing with.
