HAs the dealership said anything about this? Are they hearing from Ford? This could be one of those issues where one could get hit or cause an accident if power train related. Or like you say it may be common error code for variety of issues. But power train messages worry me.
Yeah, from the sounds of it, the power train malfunction error is a generic error message for any number for problems. Much akin to the infamous Check Engine Light.

I wonder if that "Diagnostic mode" (volume down, seek left button, I think?) Has logs anywhere we could review?

I didn't call when Service was open so I was going to call Monday. However, the error has cleared. I don't think my issue has anything to do with the power train. It's either unsuccessfully trying to connect to WiFi or unsuccessfully trying to control the garage door with HomeLink.

I'm thinking this. In my case.

I had this exact issue last week in -10 degree weather. Once I got the car home and in the garage the error codes cleared and the car has been running fine ever since.

GM called me, offered a loaner MME tomorrow if my MME is not ready. Ford engineering needs to figure it out.

Got a call from the owner of the dealership where I bought my MME. "Apparently" Ford is interested in sending out a field service engineer to look at my issue as they may know what the problem is. I'm holding my breath. ;)

It's part of the standard process really, they need Ford engineering to fix it. Service manager told me Friday that it's common with new stuff that Ford sends in a local field engineer.

We are in the same boat, wait and see which could be a few days.

??????

wait maybe clapping hands together isn't a good reply here? ?
If you are going to clap your hands while doing hands free driving, be sure you did not buy the clapper power switch option.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would just post this here.

With the air temperature at -20F and the wind chill around -37F, I noticed that while having the heat cranked to high, barely warm air was blowing out. I also noticed the longer I drove, the colder the car got. I could REALLY noticed the cold emanating from the glass roof. Thankfully, I was only driving for about 20 mins but imagined that if I drove any longer, I would be freezing inside the car.

NOTE: This was even after I preconditioned the car and had the heat running inside a bit before I left my garage.

Anyone else experience this yet?

I got the same Powertrain malfunction message one day after I got the car. It’s been at the dealership since 02/11 and still no fix. This really sucks and I wish Ford would be more active on this.
Any update on your car?
