Congratulations Mark! Thank you for all the feedback. Do you feel like you worked out the issues with the PAAK and keyfob for good?
So far so good. Let's see if it all holds. I think it was caused by the FordPass app crashing on my phone. It may be a one-off.

I got mine on Friday night. I had issues with Ford pass. Likely because Matthew my salesman did not really understand how to do it. Drive the car from LA home to Bakersfiekd over the grapevine which basically means over the mountains. I have to say that I had no idea I was doing 80MPH the whole way.

My car had 30 miles on when I got it. I guess someone decided to test it out on the SPEEDWAY. Q and A sucks as I found out when I was detailing it on Sunday. The black plastic line that goes from the MACHE X logo on the side is not glued on. I guess I will be taking it back to the dealer to fix it. I am afraid to superglue it and screwing g up the paint.

After driving it on the highway and around town I decided to charge it up. It added 131 miles at a cost of $6.45. WOW. That would have been around $35 in my ice car.

The one pedal driving took me a full day to get used to. My wife and daughter were angry to say the least with the jerking motion as I was trying to figure out how to smooth it out. By Sunday night I am getting a better grasp of it.

I had soooo many issues of getting my phone to act a a key that I gave up. About 4 hours later my car emailed me to set it up. I followed the cars directions and now it works. I had to delete the profiles set at the dealership and start from scratch. One of the best features are the simple things like seat warmers and heat and fan. In my 2017 fustian sport the fan for the heater was SOOO loud. I hated to use it above level 2. We turned it on last night after eating out for Valentine’s Day which in Cali is a BIG deal. We have not sat down in a restaurant in MANY months. Anyway it is sooo quiet. You really do not realize it is on. I love that you adjust the temperature with a swipe of your finger to get exactly where you want it. The car heats up instantly from ice cold to warm. In my fusion it was like 3-4 blocks.

Detailing it I had to use a step ladder. It is soo tall.

I do have a question. When I picked up my car it said 100% on the battery but only 217 on the miles. After driving it and charging it now it says 231. Will it take time to reach 270???

Day 0: Tuesday 9 February

Vehicle Visibility hadn't showed any changes since Marlin, my Grabber Blue First Edition, arrived in Wilmington, DE on the 5th. This morning, my dealer, Narh, at Koons Silver Spring Ford/Lincoln called this morning to tell me the car had just been unloaded. I asked him if they could prep it so I could come by this afternoon to check it out and squeeze in a quick photo session and test drive.

Unfortunately, I had to rush home for a meeting at 5:00 and another at 7:00. We'll pick Marlin up tomorrow afternoon.

They hadn't finished cleanup, etc. but I talked them into letting me get a few shots in the sunshine since we'll have gray skies and snow coming for the next several days. I also talked them into me taking Marlin it for a test drive. Picture 1 is my new avatar shot with Marlin in the sun.

IMG_4313.jpeg

One little oddity. After we did the quick paperwork for me to do the test drive, I walked back to the car and pressed the button to open the door. It didn't open. I tried a few times, then pressed the unlock button on the fob and the door opened when I pressed the button -- odd. I wonder if some of the irregular opening with PAAK might be happening with fobs, too?

First up was trying to activate Marlin in Ford Pass. I did the phone part, responded on the Sync screen, but it didn't fully activate until after I got home. I successfully paired my iPhone with the Sync -- that was easy. After setting mirrors and position it was time for a quick quick spin.

Quick quick spin? Not a typo. I didn't have long and made the best of it. The Mach E is fast.

The picture below is my very unofficial, self-timed 0-60. I'll believe Ford's stats!

IMG_6611.PNG

After lots of driving with traffic then jackrabbiting ahead, I held 50 mph around a pair of 35 mph ramps and was pushing my limits more than the car's.

60-90 was effortless. I broke 80 repeatedly without trying as I hopped around and passed commuters heading north out of town. Really glad I had slowed down during that section coming back to the dealership when I passed the cop who was sitting at the side of the road! I do like having Waze up on the big screen using Apple Car Play ;)

IMG_6608.jpeg

The seats could use more bolster when hitting curves hard but they'll be fine for 99% of driving. They are really comfy, though! Ford just needs to put more appropriate seats in the GT.

I understand the comments folks made about motion sickness. I went straight into testing Marlin in Unbridled One-Pedal-Drive and hitting it hard. After a fast set of twisties I think I left my stomach in a mailbox I went past. It came back quickly, though.

The B&O sound system is great and I was pumped when I hit a section I had planned to drive hard just as Kanye's Power came on. Having Spotify native in Apple Car Play was great, too. I tossed the Forum's collaborative Mach E playlist (Unbridled) in for background music. I mixed up the drive between stereo and Propulsion Sounds on, Propulsion Sounds only, and no artificial sounds. It was actually pretty cool to hear the whine of the electric motors as the OPD accelerated and decelerated.

Sorry, I can't answer lots more questions -- yet. I will be driving a lot more Friday and Saturday.

We're supposed to get some snow starting tomorrow night. Hopefully I can find a snowy, unplowed lot Thursday morning for some snowy donut traction testing!

Coming attractions: Road trip to Florida commences in 2-1/2 weeks!

I'll close with a pic of Marlin alone:

Marlins twin sister is arriving soon. Can't wait. However before I drive her, she will be getting protected with special film and ceramic coating. Our winter weather is hard on paint in Ontario Canada. Not sure what I should name her.

Oh about 3-4 months ;)

Really it won't say 270 with all the cold weather. Around late April/May you'll likely start seeing 270.

By June/July/August I bet you even see close to 300.

Edit: Ok you're in California (N or S?) so reduce all of the above by a good month LOL. (You'll see the range go up when the weather is warm enough that you don't need to turn on the heater.)

You can reset the EV range calculator thing. A bunch of people on the forum have done it.

Super cold is going to get super low range in any EV. Tesla forum full of similar eye popping reports. Goes with the territory. I'd say for extra cold States, we really need range approaching a normal conditions rating of 400-500 minimum, to see wide spread adoption of EV's. The southern states probably 300 is going to be the new minimum there. People who just stay around big cities won't care as much, but the range confidence (and plentiful quick charge stations) needs to be better. Neither one by itself will be enough to convert the masses.
But I want to own an EV and get upstate NY snow constantly ?

Hehe... But in California they run the heat any time it is below 55 outside. ?

55, hell no. I'm so thin-blooded I turn on the heat when it drops below 65 . . . if I was dealing with all of the weather most of the country has right now, I'd never leave the house. Oh, forgot, I haven't done that much in the last year for other reasons . . . .

Day 4
I had big plans for driving to Northern Virginia (Rocket Frog Brewery) and back, then testing DC Fast Charge. As the freezing rain forecasts moved earlier in the day, I abbreviated the plans. When the freezing rain started an hour before my planned departure this morning it killed my plans. Trip to NoVA delayed to tomorrow when the ice is supposed to be thawed.

Good news: PAAK is still working today after the re-install. Caught up on posting what I've learned the last few days as well as some other threads. Tried several things out. Installed the dash cam.

BTW: When it is cold out your Mach E will ask you to plug it in so it can treat the battery nicely.
Day 4 part 2: Dead battery!
Didn't drive Marlin Saturday but I had been in the car several times to check and set features throughout the day. Marlin was plugged in to charge some of the time. I had taken him off charge to access features that required the car to be started. He had been unplugged for several hours when I went out about 10:00 pm to check one last thing and to make sure he was plugged in overnight. He started having a complete melt down. He started running through various system checks and failing all of them. He auto-rebooted. He started making lots of thunking noises. To be honest, I was scared.

I started taking pictures and video to document what was going on and reached out to some friends with various aspects of Mach E expertise. I finally just disconnected the negative lead to the battery and went to sleep tired and frustrated.

Because I'm keeping this thread as more of a set of general experiences, the dead LVB incident can be found in its own thread: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/dead-low-voltage-battery-lvb.3490/

Fortunately, Sunday would be a better day.
