Ford Mustang Mach-E EZ-Pass transponder interference? PXL_20210216_182539360

I tested my SunPass this morning, in the above pictured location , and it worked. In the center behind the rear view mirror, it did not work. Hope this helps. By the way, for our storm plagued friends the blue is a clear view of the sky in Florida.

Do you think the sticker would work just as well?

The stickers we have here, say they use the windshield as part of the antenna. That may be why I have no success with mine. I just checked again and no tolls from my drive home from the dealer still. The tolls from the trip there showed up instantly.

There is also another possibility. Last time I got a new tag, the one they sent me didn't work at all. It was DOA. They sent a 2nd one and it worked fine. That is a downside of the stickers. Once they are on a vehicle they can't be removed. If you remove it it destroys it. I'm going to get another one and see what happens.

Have your tolls shown up yet? Mine just did. So, I can confirm that the new series (smaller style) EZ Pass transponder (non-Flex) worked when mounted directly behind the mirror, right below the dotted area.

You'll see that @Rafgar mounted his is almost the exact same spot.
@ChasingCoral That is interesting. Thanks for the update.
The toll charges never showed-up on my account. I just got off the phone with the EZ-Pass VA people. They captured my plate and I had to give them a credit card to pay the tolls - no penalty, just the tolls. But, the transactions never hit my EZ-Pass account directly. I have the larger EZ-Pass Flex - maybe that's the difference. My dealership is still researching whether there's a place to mount these. Since I now have the car listed on my account, they will bill me through my plate, but they won't know if I try to use the Flex (HOV) feature. I'll try moving the tag a little and see if it can be read through a toll booth.

@Pbaran Thanks! I'm going to give that location a try. I know that on my BMW I was instructed to *not* use that area. But, if it worked for a large SunPass I'm hoping it will work for a smaller EZ-Pass Flex.
@KAustin re the license plate tag - the monster that they use is really ugly and doesn't have the Flex feature. I discussed this with the EZ-Pass VA people. If I want to use it for Flex, I would have to call the DC toll lane company every time I wanted to get the HOV rate. For those not familiar with some of our toll roads in Northern VA, they are variable rate tolls and there's an exemption if you have an HOV vehicle. The rates routinely run into the $25-$30 range during rush hour. The Flex feature is important.

If using stickers to try - best not stick it first but try with an adhesive tape in a few locations and only stick it when it seems to work. At least thats what I am going to do. I have both the sticker and the flex type transponder will try both to see if there is a difference - but need my car first

Supposedly the sticker type won't work unless its stuck to the glass. That's what I've been told by several different people in support with our toll system.

The documentation that comes with ours says it is designed to use the whole windshield as the antenna and won't work if its not stuck to the windshield. And if you remove it, it breaks it and has to be replaced.

Good point -- it is possible the system used my plate. However, it showed up quickly in my EZ Pass MD account and had the corresponding transponder, not the license plate number. Once Marlin is out of the shop I'll try the ICC and see if the transponder works there.

Issue resolved!!
Thanks to @Pbaran for posting the solution. After moving my EZ-Pass to the area with black dots that is at the top of the windshield, I went for a drive on the Dulles Tollroad. It read the EZ-Pass. I got a signal at the toll both that the "toll paid" and I confirmed by signing on to my account where the transaction posted with the pass (and not the plate).
@ChasingCoral you may want to consider moving your small EZ-Pass up into this area since it makes the pass much less visible from the outside.
