Reading the 2026 Mustang Mach-E Owner's Manual. On Page 114 of the 2026 Mustang Mach-E PDF Owner's Manual, it makes reference to an "Auto-Dimming Exterior Mirror (If Equipped)". Can anyone with a MY26 vehicle confirm whether they do indeed have an Auto-Dimming Exterior Mirror? This is a great feature that Ford added, if it's really there!

Maybe in other countries Jim, but not here in the US.

I thought it was too good to be true. I wonder what else in the manual we are not getting?

I personally think many of the items in the manual are from the Escape. At least it seemed that way to me when I first read it years back.

My 2014 Fusion had this and it's one of the main things I miss. I wonder if we can buy just the mirror replacement somewhere and swap them if it does exist in other countries?

That would be nice, but if Mark tells us it doesn’t exist, then I’ll take his word.

If it did exist, it would take more than just swapping the mirror. I would think the wiring and connector would be different not to mention you would have to reprogram the BCM to tell it you now have a dimming mirror. You can always tint the mirror with film so that it is always slightly darker.

Or tint the back glass darker. 😁🐩

That is one way that some OEMs implement dimming exterior mirrors, but not the way that Ford usually does from my experience. If you look at the wiring for the Lincoln Corsair as an example, the interior mirror's EC+ and EC- outputs are routed (through several connectors) directly to the exterior mirror's EC element terminals.

On the Mach E, this would probably turn into getting the exterior mirror glass with EC elements and wiring them back to the interior mirror. I believe the interior mirror on the Mach E may be shared with other vehicles that have this wiring, so the interior mirror may not even need to change. It's the availability of the exterior EC mirror and the wiring that make this difficult.

Maybe tinting the side glass would be more helpful?

I agree and have had several Ford cars that have active dimming exterior side door mirrors. I was just saying he could put some tint on it if it really bothered him. 😊

I think Jim was talking about the exterior side mirrors, not the rear view mirror?
Ah. My bad. I don't think I've sniffed enough butts this week. 🤪🐩

Correct. The manual specifically says “Driver’s rear view mirror”
