Or through the dealer? It would be much easier to order from Ford.com and not have to deal with a dealership or a saleman...but I'm wondering if the order might get placed faster if I order from the dealer. Also, I could get a feel for the dealership if I actually go in. Thoughts?

You’ll have better access to tracking if you order online. The order will still be sent to the dealer, and they’ll have to accept it.

My dealer also asked me to come in and give another 500 towards my deposit. Of course that 500.00 came with a 200 restocking fee statement.

there are lists online where you can find dealerships that do not have ADM, honor Xplan... things like that.

I don't think it would be in any faster going to the dealership.

Online ordering, people have seemed to have more accessibility to online tools following the build/order process (though, the details are less than "detailed")

If you have no experience with any dealers in your area, I would definately visit and research the dealership. Then put the order online, selecting the dealer you chose. They still get the same amount of money, etc. But you get better visibility into what is going on.

That seems pretty ridiculous. Which dealer did you buy from so I can avoid them? I ordered on Ford.com and all Bowen Scarff has done is reach out via text to let me know any status updates and answer any questions I had. I even changed my original order via text.

Evergreen Ford. They also got a RR FE available that was abandoned and I asked them to swap my reservation and he came back with a 7k ADM. I responded that was ridiculous and it's clear how much loyalty that Evergreen has for a customer that has purchased 4 vehicles with them.

Wow, that's pretty poor customer service, IMO. This will be our 2nd car we've gotten from Bowen Scarff. Pretty easy experience and no issues so far.

Thanks for the info so far. Another question. I looked at the order process online, and it gives an MSRP and then a "Dealer Selling Price". Can I trust that's the actual price? Or can the dealers surprise us at the last minute with extras?

You should call ahead of time to verify that your dealer will honor the MSRP or even the X-Plan pricing on your order. There is a list on a different thread listing a bunch of dealers that are supporting MSRP and X-Plan.

Yes, and have them confirm via email if possible.

You'll also want to confirm that the deposit is fully refundable if you don't follow through with the purchase for any reason.
Get all your confirmations in writing - not verbally.

there is a huge disconnect between Ford and its dealers. Coming from Audi, it's downright pathetic. Even if you order online, you are going to end up with the dealer involved. And then the dealer will have to give you an order ID/VIN that Ford has no access to, until it's in the system.

Really a pathetic system.

Can a reservation be converted to an order on ford.com or do you have to go into a dealer to order?
