I started this so your issue doesn't get lost in the 240V thread.

So, I had time to check this afternoon, and I'm getting 126V from hot to neutral and hot to ground. Also measure minimal mV between neutral and ground.
Perfectly normal.

However, I got an overload, when checking neutral to junction box (cover plate screw) or ground to junction box. Note the junction box is metal and pretty corroded ... probably ~60 yrs old. Could this be what the Ford mobile charger is not liking?

I am making the following assumption:
"Junction box" is the box the receptacle is mounted in.

What was your meter set to measure when you saw the overload? It almost sounds like the box has no connection to ground. This in itself should not cause the charger not to work, but may indicate a bigger problem that might.

thanks, for breaking this out into a separate thread.

yes, by "junction box", I am referring to the box holding the receptacle.

I went back with my Fluke and realized the overload was just because my manual range setting was too low. I am suspicious that the ground back to the main panel may be the issue. Not sure how to check that, besides getting an electrician to come out.

What is neutral to box reading with the range set correctly?

The next step I would take would be to check the voltages with a load at the receptacle. Plug in a heavy load (portable heater or hair dryer) and measure again.

The only way to really check that is a continuity check from the receptacle to the panel

Agreed.
And a person should only take the cover off their panel if they're sure they know what they're doing!
