I (or my significant other) have contacted about every dealer in a 150 mile radius. I think we are at 11 now. At least where I am (central NC) the "advertised" cars end up being what some dealers have referred to as "mannequins", meaning the ads/cars are there for sales leads vs. sales. Maybe this is regional phenomenon?

I'm on the opposite end of the country and it took over a month of daily ritual pestering before I found one in my area at MSRP/X-plan, and I still think I got lucky.

It seems you either pay with patience (wait for your order), persistence (check constantly for new inventory), commitment (fly to Colorado like @Mirak ?), or cash (succumb to ADM).

Most of the country is just a relatively cheap one-way plane ticket away. Hop on AutoTrader and expand your search. I flew 500mi to Colorado for mine. Many listings don’t really exist, but it only took me about a dozen inquiries to find what I wanted.

One dealer I talked to said of the chip shortage priority (I'm paraphrasing): 'chip deliveries goes to other vehicles (like the F-150), not the Mach-E. '

several thoughts:

1. A "magic 8-ball" is just as reliable as asking a dealer about something like this
2. The dealer is full of crap and has no idea
3. When all else fails, dealers will make something up that steers you toward what they want to sell you
4. Ford corporate keeps dealers in the dark almost as badly as customers

Ordered my car in December, built April, will be delivered last week of June. Of course I already bought the exact car from a customer cancelled order from SC back in February, but I still have over a month to convince the wife to trade in her Explorer so we can have 2.

I traded in my 2016 Focus RS on my Mach-E GTPE a couple of weeks ago. They're selling it for $42,900 (includes Ford RS snow wheels and Michelin Alpin snow tires). The RS has 31,000 miles on it. That's $1,000 more than I paid for it new...

Yep, but the point being, buying a car is always a sacrifice of something. Just pointing out that there are decent alternatives besides full electric. I actually think PHEV's are a really good option but they just don't sell outside of the RAV4.

That’s cool. Not judging that. I don’t the get the folks complaining (not saying that’s you) about order delays when you can probably go out and buy the car you want with a little leg work.

I was going to say this is not a good new product roll-out by Ford. But in the EV space, I think it's par for the course. I'm not complaining, just pointing out reality.

I think from the start, the demand ended up being more than the planned production volume. Until the production volume moves up, it will still be trying to catch up to the demand. They basically need to double production.

On the other hand, the Chevy Bolt is heavily discounted and sitting on lots.

I never complained about the delays but about the lack of information. The answer to the most simple question is “I don’t know.” from the salesman, his manager, the regional rep, Ford CS, everybody.

You’re frustrated by obfuscation? Just wait until you buy your car….

It's not hard at all to get a build order. You just have to wait your turn. Part of the problem now is that Mach E orders are running into GT orders. The line can only produce cars so fast.

Does anyone know how many Mach-E's are squirting out the end of the tube every day?
