Seems to me that "Intelligent Charging" could be completely implemented in the cloud. The charging sessions get uploaded to the cloud (Ford Pass) along with how much you've driven.

The optimization could be done in the cloud and a new charging "schedule" downloaded to the car--no update to the car's software would be necessary.
This would be my guess as to how it was implemented for us to test. It's all server-side stuff that doesn't need an update to the car, yet.

Also very possible. It could just collect some of that info, and automatically adjust that charging schedule it sets in the car periodically.

Here are some of the setup options.

I would prefer Ford focus their energy on releasing a real OTA update to fix the bugs that are already present in my Mach-E before sending these types of things out.
This is how they test what will be the real OTA so that it is less buggy when you get it. This is EXACTLY what they should be spending their time on.

I agree, but it does sort of feel like this is a feature the car has always had, they are just enabling the interface for it. I'm curious if it was just part of the new fordpass update yesterday.
I agree, that option to ask for your location and provider to check on optimum rates was there when I setup the charging over a month ago.

Thanks, but you are waitlisted, was looking for feedback from the folks who are part of the program. I am sure your time will come soon.

Thanks, perfect!

So the NONE is the same for others, I was hoping to see something there.
Yep, I was surprised to see it still showing as none after I verified the feature is enabled for me.

So, when you turn it on, you do see the options change in the car as well.

This minimal charge level concept looks great to me.

If well implemented, it would allow me to get into the daily habit of plugging in when I arrive home, and the vehicle would allow a much better range of the battery to be exercised, based on my set minimum. It wouldn't need to go all the way to my maximum every charge event, and could skip charging on days when it's not really necessary.

I currently manage this myself by not plugging in every night, but I lose out on battery conditioning and stuff like that by doing so.

Now that it's getting hotter in my garage, the EVSE is actively adjusting the power output limits because it's overheating. This means the time to reach my charge goal is less predictable. I wonder how Ford's algorithms cope with that scenario?

Yes, Iā€™d appreciate bug fixes. But if Ford is rolling out new features, it would be nice to see something on this list:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/poll-what-new-features-do-you-want-the-most.5357/post-155672

There have been a ton of suggestions on this forum about useful new features. Many were incorporated into that poll. 101 people voted and there are some clear favorites. But Iā€™m not aware of anyone on here suggesting ā€œgee, what we really need is an ā€˜intelligent chargingā€™ feature that tries to read my mind as to when I need to charge and the most cost effective way to do it.ā€ I think if this had been suggested, some of us would have been a tad dubious.

Most people arenā€™t going to plug in every night, or trust this feature to decide when itā€™s best to charge or for how much. Driving needs change constantly. People will plug in when they think they need to charge. Theyā€™ll set a charging schedule for when they think is best. This new feature seems to needlessly add complexity without much utility.

Iā€™d tell Ford this but I didnā€™t get a Golden Ticket.

What is causing the charging bar to be red or yellow on the left side? Mine did it, so I unplugged and plugged, then it went away.
