Yeah I haven't been contacted yet either. The rumor was that those emails will go out on Tuesday, I think. I'm trying to hold off until at least then to let them straighten out any early adopter issues on the web site. :)

Ford's putting both their ranges as the same (Premium RWD ER vs CA Rt 1). However, folks here have mentioned that the 18" tires and maybe the aero wheels will give the CA Rt 1 a bit better mileage than the Premium.... The CA Rt 1 probably ways a bit less than the Premium, too, which also helps the efficiency a little. No way to know real efficiency numbers though until a bunch of owners put real miles on them.

I do wish the premium didn't have the 19 wheels. I know, I'm odd, but I never got the appeal of spending more on larger wheels that are less efficient.

I wonder why there is no option for heated seats, on the Route 1 model, even the select has options to get memory seats, heated seats and heated steering wheel, with either of the comfort options.

The Ford pages state the Route 1 is intended for Southern California and hence heated seats aren't necessary (eliminating options is a way to lower the cost).

yeah, but is it really? I mean, if people pay the extra $, then why not give them the option. Heated seats are already in the plant, so how much can they save not overcharging people for them as an option?

Living in SoCal, we have never used the heated seats on our Chevy Volt. Our initial order was for a Premium Mach E, but changed it to the CA Route 1 after further deliberations as we just didn’t need to pay for heated seats, steering, foot activated lift gates etc. Only thing we are really would have liked to have from the Premium that we are not getting on the Route 1 is the sound system, but decided it just was not worth the nearly 4k+ difference for the Premium ER. Our main goal was the ER battery and the CA Route 1 was the most economical way to get the ER battery (since it is not an option on the Select model). We also do not need the AWD in SoCal so RWD is what we would have ordered on the Premium as well.
This is exactly who the RT1 was made for. Hot climates who don't want to pay extra money for heated seats and heated steering wheel.

I live about 10 miles inland, in the foothills above Ventura, CA, nearly 1000 ft altitude. Gets cold overnight about 1/3 of the year. I have heated seats on my Kona EV, have used them frequently during the winter. Also have ventilated A/C cooled seat that I use several months during the summer. Don't have to run the cabin A/C as much. Kona also has "driver only" mode that cuts energy used for climate control. Currently getting 4 mpkWh average. I have ordered the Rt 1. If the Premium had both heated and ventilated seats, I would have gotten that. Hmmmmm.

Quite a bit actually. By reducing orderable combinations it reduces complexity and costs in many departments and at many levels within Ford. You’ll notice that same trend on some other models coming out (except maybe the F-150). There will be fewer stand alone options overall.

Also manufacturers know that, if everything is offered a la carte, folks are more likely to buy the cheaper model with only all the specific options they want. They know that, by packaging as trim levels where higher ones offer options not available at the lower trim levels, many people will stretch for the higher and more expensive trim level, which may have options they wouldn't have bought but includes whatever that must-have option is for them.
For example, could they offer the pano glass roof as an option on the Select at some price that covers their cost and profit? Sure. But they probably assume that said profit will be less than what they'll gain from every Select shopper who really wants the glass roof and, therefore, will be willing to upgrade to the Premium to get it.

Not to mention that the parts do have a cost associated with them. Sure its likely to not be very much at all (I'd bet the parts for heated seats costs less than $10/car).

Remember, the California Route 1 is basically an upgraded Select. It's the only way to get ER & glass roof on a Select. However, it now also lacks the power lift gate. So compared to the Premium, it lacks power lift gate, B&O sound, & heated seats. It gains ER, memory seats, folding mirrors, glass roof, 150 kW charging & full Ford Co-Pilot360TM Active 2.0 Prep Package. Wheels are still 18" (probably for range) but different wheels and special badging; ER results in the slightly smaller storage. It also has the slowest 0-60 time at sluggish mid-six seconds ;).

Oooh no! What will I do without the power lift gate. Oh wait: My Bolt doesn't have one either.

Interesting that its the slowest of all the MME's hmm (I can remember beeing really excited when I got my Eagle Talon TSI AWD back in the 90s because its 0-60 time was 6.3s! Wooo the Bolt can almost hit that...)

I'll note that on the "who ordered what" spreadsheet on the site here that I'm the only Route 1.

The 0-60 time is the same for Premium Extended RWD and Rt 1 - so quite a few orders fall into that category

Coincidentally, my Kona EV (now 1 year old) has the same time and I am quite satisfied with that, so I am fine with the Mach-E time performance expectations as well. EV's just a great fun to drive!
