If you go to the service and support page in the FordPass app, there is a maintenance schedule. Basically, every 10,000 miles the want you to check driveline components for wear, rotate the tires, and check the brakes and cooling systems. If I had a decent shop jack and jack stands, I’d do it myself.
My Ford dealer did the 10,000 mile checkup for free on my 2014 Fusion Hybrid. I guess it depends on the dealer where you take your vehicle.

I've owned more than 13 new cars in my lifetime. Driven over 1,000,000 miles. In all that time I've never taken any of my cars to the dealer for routine service. And, when I've taken the car to the dealer for warranty service they've never once asked to see my maintenance records or denied warranty service. I think I'll be fine letting Tire Man rotate my tires. With him I'm in and out in less than 5 minutes at no charge.
You’ve just earned a ? ?

I thought everyone got the first two maintenance visits free from ford?

I mentioned on another post about them giving me a maintenance contract for 2 visits that cost $210 but got a $210 rebate from Ford.
I had to pick between the FordPass points or the maintenance. I took the points.

Thats interesting. The dealer has nothing to do with the fordpass points. Those get added to your account by ford when the car gets registered to you.

I got both the maintenance and points.

Interesting. The dealer had a form reflecting my selection that I signed.

Was it extra points over the 22,000?
No. Not yet anyway. The 22k I was expecting were deposited in my account as soon as I completed setup in the car. Haven't gotten anything else.

This is Ford feeding their dealers. One of the first questions I asked on a Ford forum (when my wife was interested in the Mach E) was would Ford invent a service schedule to feed their dealers and one respondent said "I'm sure they'll think of something." Obviously they have.
Ok, I’m going to be that guy…. Yes, maintenance is reduced on EVs, but, contrary to conventional wisdom they aren’t maintenance-free. Tires need rotations, brake pad life needs to be checked (yes, I know regen, stay with me), and, the brake issue many don’t know about is caliper-seizing. Mainly affects those in locales where salt is used to clear roads in winter - if the friction brakes aren’t used frequently enough it can lead to corrosion build up and failure of the caliper to clamp properly. Since the front calipers on the Mach-E are fixed rather than sliding, the ones to worry about are the rears. Simple lubrication of the slider once a year should probably be sufficient and the cost minimal. And brake fluid should be changed every 3-4 years due to environmental deterioration, regardless of how much you use your friction brakes.

Not to mention, some people just can’t seem to change their own cabin filters or wiper blades etc.
The side benefit you get from having dealer service records is an increase in trade-in/resale value when the time comes.

I’ve known that I was going to hit 10,000 miles some time this week, for a couple weeks now. So, I made an appointment for my 10,000 mile service for today this was my odometer when I parked in the service department:

That's the fastest speed limit I've ever seen in a parking lot.

You had me until "The side benefit you get from having dealer service records is an increase in trade-in/resale value when the time comes."

Hogwash. No dealer is going to give you a dime more for a trade because they can find service records. And I've sold many vehicles, and not once has someone questioned my service records beyond saying "how often did you change the oil" if I didn't mention it.

All Great points!

One additional point for having the dealership service the vehicle is software/firmware/module updates which I am not sure tire shops would be able to do.

We can argue this one all day. But, when you sell certain types of vehicles to private buyers you most certainly can ask/get more $$$ if you have maint. records. I’ve done it many times. Maybe not with your avg SUV or sedan, but with cars like Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes etc. it is definitely a thing. My buyers have straight up asked for the records/receipts. I suppose a lot of it depends on what car you’re selling, and who is buying. Does the Mach-E fit in that group? Too early to tell, although I wouldn’t doubt the GT will.

And I said a Side Benefit, not a determining factor, for a reason.

While the Mach-E is a new breed, Ford dealers do not apply updates unless they are part of a recall or a TSB that occurs under warranty as a solution to the problem.

They will not update Sync, or do OTA updates, unless you pay.

While I was in the Ford Dealership this morning getting the maintenance done, they did do the PAAK update for my car. At no cost. Perhaps you should stick to commenting on Tesla’s?
