UK - MUSTANG KEY FOR OR FORD FIESTA?

Hello to all,
I am to only one that is complaining about the standard Ford Key fob?
I noticed the Mustang key fob is not delivered with the car because of some issues with the proximity sensor and Ford doesn't give a precise answer on when or how it will be fixed.
I can't believe that a so expensive car comes with the same key fob of a Ford Fiesta!!!

This has already been discussed in the UK forum and was dubbed “key gate”. In the end there isn’t much we can do. You can order a key but it isn’t valid for insurance purposes. Also many people only get one key. I would like the other key but is minor.

Nothing wrong with the Ford Firsta the point is I am buying a Mustang and I would like the "Mustang key fob".

No worries. I was not offended. I actually thought it was a funny but strange analysis of the situation. A Porsche key is probably no different or better than a VW one, other than the logo. But I get your point.

I actually miss the Fiesta key only because the Mustang one is comparatively enormous. (Thicker, longer, and wider.)

The fiesta is a fab car but here it's more than half the price and aimed at a much lower part of the market.

There's now the new Puma which is based on the fiesta but incredibly good looking!

The mustang key we get here is the same as the kuga. We don't have a problem with that car either.

In all honesty I hardly even see my fob as it’s in my pocket most of the time.

As I’ve said before I’ve had a lot of people drooling over my car but not one has asked to see the fob.

I guess it all depends on what type of parties you go to….? and if you’re a car fob snob!?

As stated by many - my key stays in my pocket, the only person that I show/give my key to is the service receptionist at the local dealers. I like the standard Ford key. The Mustang key looks garish with its fake chrome, and it's too chunky and cheap looking. The Ford one is nice and slim, and for something that lives in my pocket, that's all I care about.

Maybe if I went to those keys in the bowl parties, I'd think otherwise... ?

We have been liaising directly with the Product Marketing Team, please find responses below:

Mustang Mach E key –
The Ford-branded key fobs supplied with the Mustang Mach-E in Britain contain a motion sensor, which detects when the key has been stationary for more than 40 seconds and triggers a sleep mode, so that the key does not respond to attempts by thieves using a ‘relay box’ to hack its signal.

The image in the Owner’s Manual is not reflecting the specification of the key fob that is currently being supplied to all Mustang Mach-E customers in the UK. This is because the Mustang-branded key fob does not currently meet the Thatcham requirement for the vehicle’s security and insurance ratings in the UK.

The Owner’s Guide is developed globally and in this instance there is a visual difference in the UK. As it currently stands, we are working on a solution for the Mustang-branded key fob to ensure it meets the security standards that Thatcham mandate. Further correspondence to UK customers will follow on this in due course.

Hi, I complained bitterly about the key and agree that’s it out of site most of the time but could’ve been a bit more interesting. However I purchased this cover on EBay and think it enhances it and a black & red one for key 2 ( didn’t do cyber orange?) but better than the original me thinks.

It bothered me at first but then I remembered how much of a pain it was to put my old Jag keys in a Faraday bag each night for security, and actually I'm really glad these Ford keys come with the smart motion detection.

I did buy the plastic covers above in white & red but found them a little shiny, would have preferred them a bit more matt like the key itself.

What I have ended up doing is replacing the rubber dealer keyring with these custom metal ones which look really nice with the stock Ford key. You can find them on eBay (the specific reseller I bought from is sold out though).
