Looks like I am about the 4 or 5th person on this forum that has a dead high voltage battery....
Here is the backstory of my car. I have a Mach E First Edition (Premium AWD Extended Range), it now has 2574miles. I bought the car off a dealer lot/showroom floor on April30th(person that ordered it didn't take delivery). The car has been great, few small complains/issues; long scratches on the rails under the car along the battery pack (think it was scrapped when loaded on and off the transport trucks/train), wind noise from the pano roof windshield area and high freq. noise from the gauge cluster screen and the plenty of Paak issues. These issues are well documented on this forum, they are for sure very annoying but fairly minor; I'd like them addressed but first thing that needs to be fixed/replaced in the high voltage battery.
2 weeks ago today (June 30th - exactly 2 month after I bought the car) I went to leave for work in the morning and immediately got to fault codes; High Voltage Battery Warning and Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power, battery was 63% SoC. The car won't do over 10mph (limp home mode). So, I had it towed to the dealer. Takes them a day of diagnostic and working with Ford; 2 of the battery packs/modules need to be replaced. The dealer ordered them directly from the supplier(LG), but there is no lead time when they will be available/shipped. The dealer is checking with the supplier almost everyday from my understanding, but still no update when they will send the modules...
I have only DC fast charged the car one time (38kWh worth, 37% to 80% SoC) and I charge 99% of the time at work on a L2 charger (~7kW). Most of the time I only charge to 80-90%SoC, unless I know I am going to do lots of driving over the weekend I will charge to 100%. I never leave the car under 50% SoC for any long period of time.
Here is the best part. NO LOANER CAR!! The dealer does not have any in inventory to loan and the local rental companies they use also do not have any cars. The dealer told me that Ford would probably reimburse me for a rental up to $45/day. Issue is if you can even find a rental car place around that has a car they are $600/week, I am not going to eat the difference or have to fight Ford to get reimbursed. This is all due to a shortage of vehicles nationally. I have called Ford Customer service multiple times, have gotten basically no where and am waiting for them to get back to me. It is very frustrating! My fiance and I both work full time (not remotely working) and have a 3yr/old that is daycare, and we are having to share our other vehicle. It has been tough and super super annoying!
I plan to go to the dealer tomorrow and push for them again to get me a loaner car from somewhere. And also to understand if they are maintaining charge on the other modules/packs, I don't want them to sit at a low SoC for long period of time as it can degrade them. As well to see what they are doing to fix/adress the other issues (gauge cluster screen noise, pano roof wind noise, and Paak SW update).
This was my first Ford and it most likely be my last Ford! Their CS sucks and seems they don't truly care that I paid $60k for a car and it died and 2 months with no ETA on when it will be repaired and I am without a vehicle. I was singing their praises about how great the Mach E is, but now it is the complete opposite.
Thanks for reading/listening to my complaints
