My MME is having constant bug splats on the front of the car. Since Ford didnt use a grill in the front every bug just goes splat instead of slipping through a grill in most cases like on a normal car. Its kind of annoying because I wash the car the and very next time I drive it, it ends up covered in more bug splats. Was just wondering if other's are seeing this problem and if anyone has any recommendations on how to mitigate this problem?

No way to prevent it, just keep some detail spray and a microfiber towel in your frunk. Only takes a few seconds and it’ll keep the front of your car looking nice.

This is why I had “full frontal” PPF installed. Yes, the bugs still splat, but I worry a lot less about the paint. Last leg of my second road trip, I started with a huge yellow splat. The rain cleared it, and was gone when I got home. I also keep spray bottles, one with water, one with diluted car wash and some micro fiber cloths in the front on long trips, just in case. Gives me something to do when charging :D

Thanks for the advice. Sorry, but what is PPF? I'm new to these forums and I dont know a lot of the acronyms yet.

Some people cover their cars in plastic. I don't get it.

Yes, Paint Protection Film. Full frontal is the front of the car. Everything before the doors plus the back of the mirrors. I’ve never had it before, but I read about it on this forum.

Always makes me think of those pictures of people's living rooms that they never use with plastic on the furniture and plastic runners on the carpet. ??

This is certainly not unique to EVs. I have two EVs and two ICEs, they all get bug splats, just a little less noticeable with a grill that allows air flow. All my cars get the splats on the headlights and those are very noticeable.

The main advantage of the EV is that the bugs do not clog the AC condenser or the radiator. :p

I don’t know but I am already dreading the on slaught of love bugs in Florida!!
I had a buddy that used to go mud boggin in GA all the time. His trick was to spray baby oil all over the front end, then when he got home he would just hose off the mud without any issue. I would imagine it would work on those love bugs, too.

Keep it in the frunk along with some clean microfiber towels. Follow the instructions. Change the towels afetr each use when you get home.

If you apply an SiO² spray, it'll help them come off easier.
3D Bug Remover works great. Let it dwell for a minute and most guts will come off with a hose. A microfiber towel can remove the rest. Follow up with a quick detailer. I use Tec582 as a topper to keep the surface slick and hydrophobic.
