Hi there - so first off let's clarify - you won't ever be charging your Mach-E at a Tesla Supercharger! It's a charge network designed for Tesla owners only. However when out and about - you have soooo many other options.so in the uk what’s the script with charging the Mach e at The ”superchargers” that you get at service stations etc? Will they work on a Tesla charger with an adaptor or only universal chargers? I’ll do 99.9% of my charging at home Or work but just curious what options are if I ever need it.
In the UK there are already 1000's of charge points all over the country (just a smidge under 12,000 to be exact) They are run by lots of different companies, but the main ones are:
BP Chargemaster (POLAR)
Genie Point
Shell Recharge
Ecotricity
Ioniity
Pod Point
ChargePlace Scotland
...to name a few. Some of these offer slow charging similar to home connections, others have rapid charging connections that supply upto 150kW (the theoretical maximum the Mach-E can handle) At present the UK has approx 7000 rapid chargers (25 - 99kW) and 1045 ultra rapid chargers (100kW or higher)
If you wanna get super nerdy - all the stats on Networks, Regions, Power Outputs etc are all here: https://www.zap-map.com/statistics/#charger-type
Ford have said they will be teaming up with Ionity in the UK - but details on that are sketchy at the moment. The best thing to do if planning a long trip is to use the software built in to the nav on the Mach-E, or use a smartphone app like ZapMap (www.zap-map.com) or PlugShare to plan any potential stops.
Costs vary hugely between supplier, some allow pay-as-you-go with debit/credit cards, others require a subscription.
But to answer your question - depends where you stop - but there's plenty of choice - and you don't need the Tesla charger!
