so in the uk what’s the script with charging the Mach e at The ”superchargers” that you get at service stations etc? Will they work on a Tesla charger with an adaptor or only universal chargers? I’ll do 99.9% of my charging at home Or work but just curious what options are if I ever need it.
Hi there - so first off let's clarify - you won't ever be charging your Mach-E at a Tesla Supercharger! It's a charge network designed for Tesla owners only. However when out and about - you have soooo many other options.

In the UK there are already 1000's of charge points all over the country (just a smidge under 12,000 to be exact) They are run by lots of different companies, but the main ones are:

BP Chargemaster (POLAR)
Genie Point
Shell Recharge
Ecotricity
Ioniity
Pod Point
ChargePlace Scotland

...to name a few. Some of these offer slow charging similar to home connections, others have rapid charging connections that supply upto 150kW (the theoretical maximum the Mach-E can handle) At present the UK has approx 7000 rapid chargers (25 - 99kW) and 1045 ultra rapid chargers (100kW or higher)

If you wanna get super nerdy - all the stats on Networks, Regions, Power Outputs etc are all here: https://www.zap-map.com/statistics/#charger-type

Ford have said they will be teaming up with Ionity in the UK - but details on that are sketchy at the moment. The best thing to do if planning a long trip is to use the software built in to the nav on the Mach-E, or use a smartphone app like ZapMap (www.zap-map.com) or PlugShare to plan any potential stops.

Costs vary hugely between supplier, some allow pay-as-you-go with debit/credit cards, others require a subscription.

But to answer your question - depends where you stop - but there's plenty of choice - and you don't need the Tesla charger!

Great answer, thanks!

While I’m here, is anyone else getting a touch concerned with the lack of info around order conversions here in the UK?

I tried my trusted contact the other day but they either didn't know anything or couldn't say. My feeling is that we might hopefully hear something in the next couple of weeks. I'm assuming that our cars will be planned in with the first US ones so that they can get them shipped over and I seem to recall that their order book closes on Aug 31 for some models. It's not nice, but I think it is just a waiting game for now. If things get worse, as they seem to be in some countries, unfortunately the schedule could be thrown out of the window anyway. The MME is the only BEV that I really like at the moment, even compared to the ones that are coming soon, so I am prepared to wait it out.

The earliest window just closed here - 31 July for all FEs conversions.

I thought your Premiums had a Aug 31 deadline. As our models (except FE) are more closely aligned to your Premium I thought our order book might open by then. I must have misread the posts concerning the cutoff dates for the US. This is driving me crazy. I think I will stop joining in in the speculation and just forget about the car until I hear from Ford

I’m of the same mind set - I’ll keep monitoring threads in case anyone has queries I can help with, but apart from that it’s time for quiet reflection on the joys to come LOL

You're right. At least one person posted that they were being prodded by Ford to convert by 31 August (https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...h‍-‍e-can-be-prioritized-for-production.1050/). The 3 July FDNB (Fleet Distribution News Bulletin) gave the production timetable for the 2021 Mustang Mach-E.

  • 06/22/2020 - 2021MY Order Bank Open Date
  • 08/20/2020 - 2021MY Scheduling Begins
  • 10/26/2020 - 2021MY Job #1 Date
We also know there was an 07/31 hard cutoff for FE orders. Not sure if the 08/31 was a hard deadline. However, at some point before 10/26 they will probably need to have all orders in hand for scheduling the production run that lasts through December.

I am so impressed with you @ChasingCoral. Not only have you been terrific source of information all along but you also seem to have virtually instantaneous recall of previous posts from almost anywhere in this forum in order to answer recurring queries. Thankyou very much and keep up the good work. Hope you get your MME soon and give us all your first impressions. I think I will look forward to that more than any 'motoring' journalist's review.

So, it is real dilemma time. I have been chasing Ford for a few weeks (including the Dealer). I have zero information on expected delivery. All I get anywhere is “early” 2021. To me this means nothing. Is early Jan/feb or Mar/April, first quarter or second quarter? I have continued to look at ev’s in the UK and I am impressed by a few of the offerings. Some of them will be delivered this year. Do I wait? Really not impressed with Ford communications though.

Join the club. You are not the only one. No one in the UK has heard anything from Ford. Most havent heard from their dealers either. General consensus at the moment is that the order book might open this month, and we are reading 'early 2021' to be 1st 1/4. This means that production of UK (and EUR I suppose) will need to be Dec/Jan in time to get shipped this side of the pond. I think that once our order book opens and that production actually starts we might get a better idea of timescales. This of course is all dependant of current circumstances. The MME is the only BEV that is around at the moment that I like and fits my needs so I am prepared to wait it out. My advice would be that if you can't wait then go for something else if there is something you like. I have seen the MME in the flesh and was lucky enough to sit in it which is why I am waiting patiently. If you haven't had that opportunity then I can understand your frustration, but believe me, I think you will find it is worth the wait. If you do cancel it might bump mine up the list a bit so thanks in advance

I’m in the same boat as @portlandg... nothing else really grabs my fancy and I’m okay to wait, but I share your frustrations... it’s been so quiet that I’m actually starting to get suspicious.
