It’s pretty clear from the information that we do have that ford doesn’t really think of this car as a Mustang.

I’ll just keep the Smurfmobile until they decide to get serious about an EV Mustang.

somewhere on the forum it says after 5 seconds it no longer delivers full power.
The problem is it is not really a constant 5 seconds, if you launch form a standstill then sure I will agree that you get 5 seconds, if you are up at higher speeds and start stabbing away at the go pedal the power reduction can cut in earlier than that.

Once more EV's with similar performance in this price bracket start appearing on the market Ford is going to need to be a lot more transparent than they have been. Take for example the genesis GV60 we already know how much power / torque it will over boost and for how long and it is not even out yet. naturally it is much harder to keep it hidden away in some last minute marketing when you have an over boost button on the steering wheel, but it has been disclosed long before people can order and customers have taken delivery.

yup. How slowly it accelerated once I hit over about 75 in the 1/4 mile was just awful. On the highway it flies through the 75+ range with ease.
That’s why the GT and 2.0T hwy roll on videos don’t exist. ?

Ford Mustang Mach-E Great Mach-E GT PE Drag Strip Testing - 12 Runs! 1634679022753

I suspect the next step is the implementation of a launch control mode...
So, just to get some feedback from you guys that enjoy the drag strip.

If you had to choose, would you have Ford implements a launch/drag mode that would give you, better 1/4 mile ET and trap speeds but needed to cooldown for a couple of minutes before another run

or would you rather have better acceleration, 70-100 highway passing speed that was consistent every time without the need to cool down?

The simple answer is that most of the early owners after performance a EV that did not want a tesla without a doubt put their order in expecting a BEV that delivered a maximum of 480hp at x revs with the expected higher up the rev range as advertised.

What they didn't sign up for was that only had 480hp that for a limited number of seconds. Ford simply needs to actually deliver on what people thought they where signing up for if they do that it will achieve both the goals of a decent 1/4 trap speed and better highway passing speeds.

Ford doing anything else is simply a band aid on top of a band aid, if the GT / GTPE had been approached / engineered properly it would already have very good performance from this assumed 480hp and this forum would instead be filled with talk from people wondering about the possibility of Ford adding a limited time boost mode to unleash the full 562hp potential down the drag strip.

Option B would be preferred. However, I don't believe it's realistic.

EVs are different. They are new and the technology right now isn't there to be able to provide an uncompromised experience. In 10 years I suspect it will be. For now, we are going to be making compromises and accepting an imperfect experience.

For now, I'm buying the car for what it is, today. I've resigned myself to the product, flaws and all, as being acceptable of my money.

I trust in the process because that's my only option. I don't find bitching and moaning to be a particularly effective means of bringing about change.

Honestly, once you’ve made a 1/4 mile run, picked up your time slip, travelled back on the return road, gotten in line and waited for your turn, more than a couple of minutes have passed. So yeah, I’m sure everyone would probably be cool with that.

And if it can do A, it can definitely do B.

What would be the longest cool down time considered acceptable?

Would it be ok if the car went to turtle mode after the run until it’s ready for another blast?

What about if this completely made up cool down limp mode couldn’t be defeated, and you couldn’t leave the track (with normal power) after your last run until the cooldown ran its course.

I’m not a track guy, but I feel like 30-40 minutes between runs wouldn’t bother most of the people that are… IF the performance was where we were expecting it to be.

No need to make excuses for BEVs.

If Tesla, Porsche, Jaguar, BMW, Audi, Kia, and Hyundai can deliver high power without a significant drop in performance, then so can Ford.

There isn’t another BEV on the market right now with such a significant drop in performance.

Everyone else manages a boost that is maybe 20% different. Ford power seems to be cut in half after the 5 seconds. And from a recent video, it loses another 10-15% power at 70% SOC.

Either:
1. Ford engineered an inferior product to the competition

or

2. Ford refused to take off the training wheels

I hope it’s #2.

30-40 minutes and any turtle mode is a showstopper. 3-5 minutes is plenty but not if limp mode is invoked immediately after a run. Even 5-10 minutes would probably be ok for most.

I suspect Ford will figure this all out in short order and we’ll see 110mph 1/4 mile trap speeds by year’s end.

And since the GT should theoretically be capable of 112-114mph trap speeds a 110 would still be Ford sandbagging with a bit of headroom to spare.

And yes, you're right, we were promised it 5 years ago.

Have it on my Model Y now. Granted, it's MUCH a work in progress and in a VERY LIMITED rollout for testing AND I had to achieve a perfect 100 safety score to get it, but it's real.
Well, Tesla's Level 2 ADAS is real. As is Ford's, GM's and everyone else's. "Self-driving" Teslas, however, are nothing more than a figment of Elon Musk's vivid imagination.

Give it another five years. Maybe then we will see a self-driving Tesla. But I would not bet on it.

Of those you listed every single one of them has a caveat. They all have compromises. Most aren't delivering on the performance of the GT.

Some of those that are...the upcoming Kia/Hyunda/Genesis is giving a power boost. Same deal there. We don't know what the trap speed is going to be but it's going to have the same situation. They've indicated that it will allow full power for 10 seconds.

So again....limitations are there. Ford is being conservative.

Worth noting you can't hardly find any info on the boost caveat with the Kia/Hyundai/Genesis either.

https://www.motor1.com/news/537352/2022-genesis-gv60-specs-range/

It is worth noting the aforementioned Boost Mode only lasts 10 seconds after pressing a dedicated button mounted on the steering wheel.
Patience.

Ford's not going to do themselves, or the BEV adoption any favors by coming out of the gates balls to the wall on the VERY FIRST performance BEV. They are going to take it slow and learn from the data they are receiving. It's smart.
