Do any of you use just the Ford supplied charger to charge at home? I have a 240 volt outlet being installed in my new home garage and that is all I plan to use. 20 miles hour seems adequate to me. I just ordered yesterday so I am a new guy on the forum.

Welcome to the forum! When I get my MME, I'm planning on using the included charger. (actually it's an EVSE and the charger is in the car, but just semantics) Getting a 50 amp 14-50 receptacle installed next week.

The mobile charger worked great for me until sometime in early May when my garage temps got too high for it. The charger still worked but was definitely slowing itself down and taking breaks. When the charger detects temperatures above 112F or so (?? I can't remember the exact figure) it goes into a slowdown or pause state.

This made me nervous that it'd get worse, since it was just early May. So I rushed out and bought the Ford Connection Charge Station from AutoNation Ford in Scottsdale since they had several in stock at that time.

ANYWAY, if your garage is better shaded and doesn't get as hot as mine does, the mobile charger should be just fine year round. If yours faces southwest and has zero shade like mine does, then you may have issues. Fountain Hills is a similar elevation to where I am... I'd expect similar temps there so it just depends on your garage situation.

Another option besides FCCS is the ChargePoint Home Flex. It's deeply discounted through srpmarketplace.com if you are an SRP customer.

We have ours for almost 4 months now and that is what I use to charge the car in my garage on a 240 outlet. At some point I may decide to buy another Charger but so far the one supplied with the car has been sufficient!

One other thing... You mentioned 240V but didn't say the circuit amperage. Make sure you are installing a 50A circuit with a NEMA 14-50 receptacle if you intend to use the mobile charger. The ground pin should be at the top.

If you buy the ChargePoint Home Flex you need a NEMA 6-50 receptacle instead of 14-50 because SRP only sells it that way, unfortunately. Or you can have an electrician hardwire it.

The Ford Connected Charge Station requires an electrician to hardwire.

With either hardwiring option, you can install on a 60A circuit instead of 50A. (Either way is fine. The FCCS and CP HF are both configurable.)

Thank you . I’m at 2040 feet so a little cooler. Garage faces North, North west.

If you live in the Phoenix area, very likely you will experience charge interruptions and/or slower speeds during the summer months with the provided Ford Mobile EVSE. Actually....pretty much any solid state potted EVSE is going to get hot and experience thermal limiters. It is just too hot here during the summer. Not really a big deal with such a massive battery like we have in our cars. Those other EVs with a 17 or 33 kWh battery would be more affected because they need all the range they can get and they charge more often.

Technically you only need a 40A circuit for the Ford Mobile Charger, and it's recommended to be a GFCI circuit.

I have a ChargePoint Home Flex for my house, but when I'm at our beach house or visiting parents, I'll use the mobile charger. We've installed outlets at parent's homes for flexible charging.

The mobile EVSE is rather effective, and if you have DCFC close by, you can hit those for a quick top-up as needed. I know many who do exactly this.

Welcome to the forum. I was just hiking around Pass Mountain at Usery a couple days ago looking out on Fountain Hills. I ended up installing the FCCS plus a 240v outlet as a backup. Early on there were reports of EVSEs failing and if that happens it's not like you can just go to the next gas station if a pump is out of order. The FCCS charges way faster than I've needed at this point. As long as you have backup rides (which it looks like you do) the EVSE that comes with the vehicle is probably plenty.
