I’m starting my own thread because I tried searching and didn’t see anything about this. I also tried adding to someone else’s post and got nothing.

My wife and I were driving last week in her car and the car stopped reading speed limit signs. Cruise control still works. Adaptive cruise control still works. But intelligent cruise control speed limit sign recognition is dead. Almost got us in trouble as we’ve already grown accustomed to the car slowing down as we go through small towns. It didn’t. We find ourselves in a 35 MPH zone still going 59 MPH.

Just booked an appointment for next week but wanted to ask if anyone else has seen this or not?

I've read in another thread that there's an option to shut off the speed zone recognition. By chance did that happen here?

No. If I turn it off, it quits trying, but then when I turn speed sign recognition back on, the warning comes right back.

I should also note that we’ve cleaned the windshield over the camera, cleaned the radar sensors, turned all versions of cruise control off and back on, restarted multiple times AND disconnected the 12V battery to try a hard reset.

You probably already thought of this, but is your front camera obstructed in any way? Like a bug splotch or dirt on the windshield in the area where the front camera looks out?

Yes, we received a similar warning, then followed in days by warnings that the Lane Centering had faulted. See TSB 21-2249.

Guess we were typing at the same time. But yeah, I’m a diy guy, so I’ve tried all the stuff I can think of.

There's a TSB or SSM regarding issues with the IPMA that effects ADAS features. Not sure if ICC problems are part of that too.

Thank You @RickMachE. That sounds like exactly what I need to tell the service department. You da man (unless I’ve misgendered you in which case, “You da (fill in your preferred pronoun here).

Yup. “Traffic sign recognition inoperative” falls under TSB 21-2249. That should do.

And now, not to be outdone, my car, on the way home from halloween party last night, decided it didn’t want to read speed signs either. Looks like both cars need a minor update.

Welp, now that my car has had a few days to think about it’s behavior (while I was away for work) it seems to be straightened out. Just wen to test it. Worked fine. And I have notes now do my 1.7.1 update is completed. Perhaps my speed sign problem (which started at the same time I got the update message) was a symptom of the update not making its way through all the modules yet.

My wife’s car has not received any updates and still has a sign reading problem. Appointment at the dealer tomorrow morning where I will have them install the above TSB and maybe try to talk them into going ahead and installing 1.7.1.

On another note, since I have 1.7.1 on my car, I thought turn by turn directions were now supposed to display on the instrument cluster through CarPlay with google maps. Am I wrong about that? Because I get nothing on the instrument cluster.

I believe it is CarPlay ONLY with Apple Maps, no 3rd party maps work with it, unfortunately.

You shouldn't have to talk them into it. Just tell them you're having the problems referenced in this TSB:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/tsb-21-2310-various-sync-4-concerns.10434/

That only works with CarPlay if you use Apple Maps, unfortunately.
