"... while the car is still connected to power (L1 or L2) it will Precondition The battery as well as get the cabin up to temp / turn on the seat / steering wheel heat..."
I don't believe the battery is preconditioned when L1 charging, but I am wondering whether or not there is any benefit at all to routinely keeping car plugged-in on L1 after charging completes. ?‍♂

How did you do that? Did you leave it in accessory mode with the timeout disabled? Is that even possible?
I had had the steering wheel warmer on when I parked the car. The charging started at its time, and finally finished. When I got into the car, the steering wheel was warm, and the charge was not great.

That's not normal operation. The steering wheel heater does not come on when the car is off unless you do a remote start or have a scheduled departure time scheduled.

I can honestly say I've never done a remote start, or scheduled a departure time...another Mach E phenomena.

We're nowhere near actual winter yet, but around me it's been 30F in the morning and so far the MME is performing well. The cabin heat has been on for the past 2 weeks (auto at 68F), my normal average MPK dropped from 3.7 to 3.3, which is still exceeding Ford's spec.

What I really like is that regen power is seemingly unaffected by the cold in the MME. In the model 3, on a 30F morning, the car will have nearly no regen for a while, showing me a blue bar which means limited regen power. Even into the 40s and 50s regen will be weakened in the model 3. Regen power is very inconsistent when it's cold and/or the battery SOC is above 85% in the Tesla. So far, I have not seen one instance of the MME limiting regen power, even with the battery at 100%. Still, I wouldn't mind if Ford has a power meter indicating power and regen power.

The one thing I'd like is a button in FordPass to turn on the climate control. If I start the car from FP and I left the climate control off from the previous drive, it stays off when I remote start it which defeats the purpose of remote starting it.

Change the Remote Start settings to "Auto" so it will cool, heat, etc depending on the temperature.

There’s a setting that can toggle between auto and “last setting” for HVAC on restart.

I am retired and don't have a regular departure time for work anymore. I wish I could precondition my cabin from my phone on the fly. It looks to me like the only way to precondition is to build a regular schedule. I would love it if the Ford Pass app allowed me to just tap an icon to start preconditioning a few minutes before I left my garage. That would be much more useful to me than any of the other tap and hold features on the Ford Pass app.

Curious, how much preconditioning is necessary if you have a heated garage? Currently it stays about 55 degrees F in the garage, with no heating so far even though temps have been down to 18F outside. Once the heater season kicks in with even colder outside temps, I usually keep the garage around 50 - 55F. I would not need preconditioning for personal warmth, but wondering if preconditioning would be important for battery efficiency / health?

It's incredibly nice to have a gas heater plus floor drains for the cold Iowa weather.

I don't have my MME yet, but was wondering if L1 charging would provide cabin and/or battery preconditioning?

My commute is such that I won't need to charge every night, but would like to heat the the cabin prior to departure using L1 on nights when I need to park outside the garage.

You can remote start the car with a single press of the button.

You can. It's the big Start button right in the middle of the main screen in the app.

My garage is not heated. It was 28 outside this morning and 49 inside my garage. For me, the idea is to preheat the cabin while the car is plugged in, to use power from the wall to bring the cabin up to temperature. It lessons the drain from the battery a bit if it's just maintaining the temperature, which helps to not completely tank the MPK average. Comfort is just secondary for me, all about the MPK.
