So apparently, as of Friday last week, There is a $12,500 tax credit now on Ford Mach-E as long as it's assembled in America and uses union labor? Anyone have more info on this? I'm trying to track down the details exactly.

It looks like the Mach-e is assembled in Mexico, but there is a stipulation in there for where the batteries are made... trying to find more info on that...

Aren't they assembled in Mexico? Don't know about union labor. Looks like a fake promise for MME.

Per my understanding:

1 - It's not passed so completely speculative at this point
2 - In it's current form, it wouldn't qualify because it's not built with US Union Labor
3 - The other credits are still available without BBB and would continue to be if it passes.

There's a ton of forum posts on this already if you search for them you'll see a bunch of discussion around it.

MME are assembled in Mexico by non-union labor, so the extra tax credit will not apply.

Currently the Mach-E is assembled in Mexico, which is only applicable to the current $7500 tax (liability) credit.

As @DevSecOps mentioned, the new Build Back Better bill has not been put into law. Until it does, review the other threads about the bill and current incentives.

Close the thread.

Do a search with the word tax in the thread title. You'll find lots of threads on this already.

It was passed by the House, hasn't been taken up by the Senate yet. Nothing is definite.

The major benefit would be the fact you would get the credit at purchase (through the dealer) rather than waiting until you file your taxes the next year.

In its current version, this would only apply starting in 2023. The tax credit on a purchase in 2022 would be fully refundable, but you still wouldn’t get it until filing your 2022 taxes. Of course, nobody knows what, if anything will actually pass.

Keep in mind that unless the language changes the upper trims of the Mach-e would now longer be eligible for any credit due to MSRP cap.

Cuautitlan is a union plant. Not that it matters in this context.

No, not in the senate version; please see the other long threads where this has already been discussed ad nauseum
