I've never been able to get unbridled extend to work. Not sure if it's temperature dependent but in warmer days, cooler days, before I drive, after I drive...doesn't matter it's always either dithered or it goes dithered as soon as I try to turn it on. Anyone gotten it to work or is it disabled for non PE versions?

Bump....Anyone? I still have never been able to get it to enable. Warm, Cold, right after start, after driving gently, after driving hard...doesn't matter. It's either dithered or goes dithered as soon as I try and turn it on.

I saw it "available" the other day when I had ~95% charge and it was 55 or 60 degrees outside, but I didn't try to enable it. Never have tried, in fact, since I don't have a use case for it. I will check though, out of curiosity.

It works on my GT.

You have to have a high SoC, all components need to be in the right temp range.

If you see its not available, just park, and let the car sit for a bit and it should become available.

Yeah, I put it into Unbridled Extend a few days ago switching out from Whisper while driving. It was unsettling because it instantly and dramatically changed the car's driving dynamics. It was rainy and slick out and I remembered that it turned off traction control. Abort! Abort!!

Traction control is really never off. In unbridled extended it intervenes a little less and tunes the ESC to not nanny you on hard corners it thinks the car may lose control in (for the track). Even with traction control fully "off" on the mach E it is never truly fully off. The car will just allow more slip than it normally does.

Yeah, I don't want to be the guy in a Mustang to wind up on YouTube going into the ditch. I need my nannies.

I think you are bringing up an interesting point. In the ICE world, temperature has minimal effect until you get to the edges of operating temperatures - both high and low. In the chemistry and electricity world we MME owners occupy, temperature is a very dependent effect on our cars. Considering how we are pretty early in this overall industry transformation, there is a lot of learning and engineering to be done over the next few decades. A quirk and resultant behavior that we have not dealt with in the past. Living at 5800 feet, I do appreciate that altitude doesn't claw away power like it does in the combustion world!

Still hoping that these limitations aren't actually because its overheating, just that Ford has been overly cautious and will be opening it up more as they get data. In the same way as they are doing with the charging. The power limiting and being locked out of unbridled extend to me, seem like its just too sensitive and can be adjusted later.

So it’s been a few months now.

I’m wondering if anyone has found an actual USE for unbridled extend.

Other than turning it on once and confirming “yep, it’s slower,” I just don’t see me using it…….. ever.

Only decent AutoX I’ve seen online around me is 2 hours away, which kinda makes it a no go because I would end up spending half the day charging.

Resurrecting.
Has anyone figured the proper parameters for “unbridled extended” to be available. I tried to turn it on this morning to see how it felt. No luck. All greyed out.

Did you have any grey bars on the power meter when you tried?

Seems unbridled extend may have similar parameters to the grey bars (Goldilocks, not too hot not too cold).

I’ve always had a grey bar. At least one. Often 3. Sometimes 11.

I got mine to work today. It's definitely finicky in terms of the conditions it will allow extend to operate in. I'm fairly certain extend = every other mach-e in terms of power. it's weak sauce.

Does that mean acceleration is similar to a premium but the 5 second power limit is removed?!?
