Since I bought my car the range displayed has seemed really low. Especially compared to the range it had when I bought it.

So I decided to test it and see what my range really is.
When I left my range was 202 at 100%
I drove a mix of city and highway. Some full throttle pulls and really just enjoyed the car. 80 on the highway. I even had the heater on set to 74 and the little snowy road icon was on the dash.

I drove 130 miles pulled into the garage at 49% SoC left.

Doing the math I should have 260 miles on my range on the GOM. I have a GTPE so this value is very reasonable. So, considering worse case scenarios my GOM is reporting seems reasonable.

Sorry not sorry to troll all y’all!
But wanted to remind everyone that some real world testing actually works.
Just got my car and noticed the snowy road icon (it was about 40F). Can’t find it in the manual…is this an indication that max performance is limited by external temps?

Edit: Mr. Google indicates it’s a warning about external temps being favorable for icy roads and not an indication of the car’s performance. Case closed for me.

It was just a data point for external temps during my drive.

Yes, exactly correct. Unfortunately all the newbies that come here to create an account and post their "unique range problem" have done ZERO research, including looking at ANY of the existing threads. They simply believe the range the car shows in the instrument panel and assume their car is broken. Ford needs to fix that; this is getting out of hand.

Where’s the “Standard Reply”?
There's a standard reply for someone who shares their actual findings and states that the car is fine?
And that the GOM is pretty useless....

Agreed. Just being funny with the title of your post. Interesting read on FB this AM with someone in MI so upset with the range loss that they are getting rid of the car. 300+ summer and 150-180 winter. I do wish the EPA listed a Winter range. There would be so many EVs on the lots to choose from. Happy Holidays!

BTW I am pulling nearly 200 from my ERAWD in the 20’s. I am tickled. The GOM is finally being somewhat accurate after 1500 miles.

I was also attempting humor (I've been told not to quit my day job....and I'm retired!)
For the record, I'm not the original poster....

I wish that we would use a different metric other than range on the window sticker.

Ice cars aren’t sold on how many miles per tank. They are miles per gallon.
And we need to stop making the GOM so front and center.

Good one. Thanks for the laugh. That's really great range, by the way, especially on a GTPE. Wow.

Oh yeah another data point, I have 255 width Nokians, which should offer worse range than the standard, thinner, summer tires.

This was a nice read thanks for putting this out their and your results for the ones who are really unsure.

Seems people are learning once you got to BEV instead of ICE you have to rethink how you drive and how the GOM range works on EVs.

People are learning the hard way and are being frustrated cause it is out of their control and will not take the answer that their is nothing wrong with your vehicle. Perhaps they need to rent a BEV for a little bit in the winter time before buying one and then being frustrated cause they are not seeing the stated EPA mileage on the Guess O Meter.

Remember people never go by the GOM, look at the Battery Percentage mostly just disregard the Range numbers.

Do you look at the MTE (mile to Empty) on your Gas Car? I know I do not pay attention to it as it flunctuates so much I just look at my gas gauge. BEVs are the same way. You need to stop looking at Range Mileage and pay more attention to Battery Percentage because that is similar to an ICE vehicles gas gauge and that will be more accurate.

I think that most ppl when in a BEV try to charge their batteries once it reaches around 10% left. Which means if able to that is no need to charge it every day as with BEV if you use 1 pedal driving you can recharge the batter a little each day.

I don't understand why people believe an EV GOM will be any more accurate than an ICE range estimate. My wife's car (ICE SUV) has a prominently-displayed range estimate. When she leaves the gas station, it says 320 miles, although she ends up getting 270-280 miles max (even less in the winter).

WHo knows I think they were use to having gas stations on every block so range didnt matter. Now with EVs you have to plan ahead to ensure you have enough range to do what you want to do. Since charges are not as populated in areas. At least not yet but I am sure soon will be. People just like to give themselves Range Anxiety when they look at the GOM.

If you are person who will constantly look at the GOM then perhaps EVs are not for you right now. Maybe stay with an ICE vehicle for a few more years until the charging infrastructure gets better.

Just remember a happy EV is a plugged in EV.
