More of an observation than a rant but PaaK stopped working inexplicably after a month of ownership. It was reliable, like 99% reliable, most of the time. I ran into hiccups if I left my phone in my pocket or if the car was in deep sleep, etc. and occasionally I would have to press the door button twice before it would open, stuff like that. Never a deal breaker or inconvenience but more of a novel quirk. I attempted to re-pair my phone a couple of times to fix the problem and it would work occasionally but then it would drop out again within minutes. I'm not sure what the overlying issue is and hopefully it's something that will resolve itself over time with OTA. (iPhone 11 / iOS 15.1 for the record).

Enter the FOB. As seamless as PaaK was when it worked as designed, the fob is SO much better. I hadn't used it until now. The response with the car is snappy, you can put it in your pocket and forget it, kick your leg under the bumper and the hatch opens, like, every time. I'm a convert. PaaK is cool, and I'll miss the Frunk button, but it's really not necessary. I'd rather not be fumbling with my phone while getting into my car anyway.

I received two fobs when my car was delivered in November. I understand the early adopter's concerns when they only got a single fob early on.

Feel you with Paak, it doesn't work well for so many people. Paak had another melt down for me today. Came back to the car after a visit to a office. MME opened but would not start, no backup code, alarm ended up going off. Ten embarrassing minutes later I was able to get the backup code screen. S21 Ultra 12. Happened all the time when I was on 11 as well. Going back to the fob if this continues.

Rub in the two fobs. lol I'm one of the early adopters Ford has screwed.

I keep PAAK around because I like me my frunk button. For everything else, FOB is just quicker, and much more reliable.

I tried every method I could find to try and setup PAAK with no success. I just use the fob now and it is seamless as it should be.
Hopefully, Ford makes PAAK truly as easy as a fob some day.

100% fob user too. PAAK failed twice on the first day of ownership and I stopped trusting it. Tried it a few times after with same intermittent results… I could open the car but sometimes could not start car. iPhone 12 mini.

Had 6 weeks of flawless Model Y phone as key operation. Never needed the keycards after the first day. I don’t know what’s so special about the Tesla implementation. Car shutdowns when you walk away. Car opens when you approach. Can’t be rocket science.

Getting a Fob from Ford was like an early Christmas present and I didn’t have to be nice to get it! Maybe I should wrap it and put it under the tree? Lol

Wish I could setup PaaK and judge for myself! I’m one of the tortured souls with no option in the FP app to even set it up.

That said, I think I’ll always have a fob when I depart the house. But I would love PaaK to be able to move the car in and out of the garage (get lawnmower out and then pull back in when done mowing, for example) without having to run inside and grab a fob. I basically always have my phone in my pocket and sometimes you just need to move the car! lol

Is there a way to reprogram one of the FOB buttons for the Frunk instead of say, the alarm?

Yawn ...

The last 1237645 threads on how ya'll hate PaaK didn't suffice?

My official rebuttal here!
Enjoyed your rebuttal! I do have a question though, and it's possible that this got lost in the Avogadro's number of posts that I probably have read about PAAK, FOB, etc. Other than maybe that frunk button and freedom from carrying the FOB, are there specific benefits of PAAK over a FOB? I'm so used to carrying a FOB that I'm trying to figure out if it is even worth the headaches of using PAAK when I get my MME (then again, maybe by that time PAAK will have been upgraded and be flawless...).

First of all thank you for taking the time to read my rebuttal. If you're a frequent visitor you might have noticed that every sentence of my post is a reference to a highly debated thread on this forum and largely satire. But the reality is that i don't carry a FOB ever.

So to answer your question, that's on each individual. I know, for example, that a lot of people love PaaK because of the frunk button. Personally, i could care less about that. Hint, you can open the frunk using the b pillar keypad too. I use it just because it's one less thing to carry around, plain and simple.

Other than those two things there's really not a benefit, which is in part why my eyes roll back every time I see another hate thread. It's just not that big of a deal people...

If that were the case I'd use the fob all the time. But it's to big and bulky to do that. If it were thin like a regular key then I'd use the fob. I'm fortunate to have had no issues with the PAAK since I got the car in April so I'll stick with that until it fails.
