Disclaimer, I know this is a first-world problem, that I want a different $60K car sooner than later.

But I feel like I am going insane. After the dealer called me, I called Susan again at program HQ, and she seemed legitimately pissed that the dealer wouldn't agree to place an order for the FE on my behalf. She even called their sales manager and left a message, telling me to call her back in the AM if they didn't respond and we'd talk about even switching dealers.

Later this evening, sales manager calls back and says the same thing! Only for celebrities and influencers! And that there are no more FEs for order outside of the original run! He even sends me a screenshot (attached) of the Mach Drop program, and it says...to do exactly what I am doing to order an FE??? I point this out and so far he hasn't responded.

Never expected that I would have so much trouble getting a company to take my money...

Perhaps better to find a different dealer to work through this

What this means is that those who are able to get the MachDrop orders placed will only know if their order is actually a confirmed vehicle after 9/18.... The MachDrop program HQ folks on the phone did not indicate that is a wait list or anything like that so one can assume that if you got your order in you are in but I would not be sure given all the confusion

Update:
I called the Mach Drop number once more, and talked to Julie again. She called the dealer again and also the general manager, and left detailed info on voice mails on how to do this. Lo and behold, I received an email from the GM with the buyer agreement to sign and return! My squeaky wheel action worked and I am a step closer to getting the FE now. My blood pressure has returned to normal again...

Julie gave me a lot of info on the Mach Drop situation, and it was as others here have described. One thing I did not understand is there are 3 separate drops, first Instagram, then Uncrate, then Spotify starts tomorrow.

I got this back just now from the dealer:

I have forwarded the purchase agreement to Julie in the MachDrop department. I will let you know if anything else is needed or if I receive any further communication. I know that they want to get all the upgrade requests completed by the first of September and they hope to open the order bank in mid-September. ??
I didnt have to sign my new updated buyer's order. He filled it out and emailed it to Ford.

The last few sentences are quite interesting. Looks like a waitlist for unclaimed First Editions.
Yeah - how many unconverted FEs are there even to begin with? I remember reading 100-200 ish from a post here. It would be interesting if they still have unclaimed FEs after the three Drops. I think the limited colors and black only interiors result in a few losses. And the dealers probably are not pushing hard to sell these extra allocations perhaps too.

My dealer only told me in passing that he had one extra allocation but never tried to sign me up even as I was nagging him for the Drop paperwork and never showed interest when I asked him if I could have his extra allocation - and he has not sold that to anyone yet.

He has 25 FE orders (6 Blues and rest equally between Grey and Red) - so may be he is content.

If that actually worked you wouldn't hear all the complaining. Two calls to the published number and emails to the EV Manager at the local dealer who has my Premium order have resulted in zero.
Long shot - email [email protected] (email from the document above) and explain whats going on to force them to take an action - not sure it will work but worth a shot

That's the exact passage my dealer forwarded to me after he checked with his district sales manager. He submitted my name and info to that email address last Friday. Heard back zilch since.

I emailed them yesterday for an update. Again, nothing.

I specifically asked my dealer if I needed to sign anything like a purchase agreement and he specifically said NO I was all set.

Can someone please forward me a redacted new "MachDrop" purchase agreement? I would appreciate it.
I thinks its just the dealer sending info to the right department at Ford - thats all it seems this is. Not their normal order process. I was sent a 3 line document with no numbers just the color of the vehicle and price was listed as MSRP, tax TBD and showing a 500 deposit - it did not look like any other car order I have seen - but reading all these posts , looks like its just a way to capture buyers name address and color of the FE for Ford HQ to enter into their order system.

I've been wondering that too. The logical way to have done all this in the first place is a waitlist (then if there's more takers than cars, award them by res priority). So I wonder if what they're really just doing now is taking purchase commitments from customers, and if they find out there's too many, they'll come back after applying priority to some and have to say "Um, sorry, we got more requests than we had cars so your upgrade can't be honored." Thus why they keep stressing not to cancel your original order.

The fact that it appears to be different than the order system that the dealer used for our Premium orders suggests this is something special, like perhaps really just a waiting list that they will enter into the regular order system automatically if there's not too many. But if there is, then they'll apply a priority filter to to select which ones become orders and which get left out?

And the fact that Ford keeps saying they didn't expect there to a flood of upgrade requests from existing orders could suggest they planned to just control the quantity by the number of new customers that called in (i.e. they'd just cut it off when they got enough orders). But they didn't expect a "second path" of requests (upgrades) coming in, so now they may be screwed with having too many requests and have to figure out who to disappoint - the new customers or the existing ones wanting upgrades?

Or maybe they scramble to try to bump up the # of FEs to produce if the supply logistics can be arranged.

It's really naive of Ford to think they would get new FE customers for several hundred cars through the social media campaign -

It depends on how many cars are talking about and like you said it could come down some sort of priority and even perhaps some just not getting an FE. Thats why I am not getting my hopes up.

Unless the goal of the advertising campaign was to confuse dealers, befuddle and anger some customers, and generally make the system fail, I’d say the whole machdrop has pretty much backfired.

I’ll just keep my infinite blue Premium and see if they can deliver it before I find something better to do with $60,000+ .

Good luck to those still trying.
