Im convinced this forum was created by Ford and is secertly managed by Ford, along with the Bronco forum which is 100% similar in every way. New threads asking about the GOM is almost a daily event and the forum software should say "read here first before posting etc". FAQ link above would be helpful too.

Dealers are clueless about the MME and will tell you whatever sounds good.
Oh, I agree.. Ford definitely has a hand in this website. But ultimately it’s a good thing as it gives a line of communication to the owners. As far as transparency well feels a little like our politicians & lobbyist up in DC. We’re on a need to know basis.

I firmly believe that time will solve the problem behind the problem that so many are posting about - the concern about running out of electrons due to the cold. Recently, my wife and I drove from Denver to the crime center Los Angeles for Thanksgiving. I had thought that I would have my car by then and plotted out on ABRP the trip, with stops planned and the time impact of charging. Unfortunately, the car wasn't out of the trainyard, so we took her Q5. But, it makes me wonder if there are trips that I can make in the warmer months that I cannot in the cold because my range is lower. Now, as I said, time will solve this with more charging stations, but for right now, are others in a situation where a trip you want to take is seasonal only due the "shrinkage" in the cold?

The important part is you took the time to plan it out. EV trips just take more thought. Not a problem if you're willing to do the work ahead of time. I doubt ABRP takes into account the loss of range, but I'm pretty sure the Ford Navigation does.

It does if you enter temperature, wind, and road conditions in the "advanced settings". It's not perfect of course because it is a projection based on modeling so I don't know how close it is to reality, but it does adjust the projected mi/kwh. You can also tweak the "reference" mi/kwh manually.

Ok to be fair ... the difference is that in an ICE vehicle range doesn't matter. There's a gas station every .1 miles and it takes 5 minutes and you're on the road again. The psychology behind range anxiety would be non-existent if EV chargers were on every corner and it was a few minutes then go. With an ICE vehicle I have NEVER ONCE planned a trip, where I would stop, how long it would take etc. I just get in the car and go without thinking about where I'm gonna stop for gas.
I get that. But I would bet that 90% of the people with these complaints don't need the range 90% of the time. It seems people are more upset that they're not getting the "miles they paid for" rather than actually needing the miles for a road trip. The more I see these threads, the more I realize that Tesla's strategy is smart. Just show the rated range on the main screen so that 90% of drivers will be happy to see a big number. When people go on a road trip, the Nav calculates a more accurate number based on current conditions and the planned route.

Based on my limited experience with my MME, it seems like the Ford navigation system does a pretty good job of predicting charge level at the destination. So I think you are right.

Most modern ICE cars do show an estimated distance until empty. But for some reason most people seem to be fine with that estimate being inaccurate. It’s a people problem.
True, but I've always had it hidden in some menu and you're right -- people just accept that it doesn't mean anything.
I guess that's why the perception needs to change for EVs.

Actually, it's a gas station density thing. We all know gas stations are everywhere, and we all know that guy at work that knows there are no chargers anywhere.

This forum is not related to Ford in any way. They do have 1 account on here that was only created halfway through this year.
This is a fan-made forum.

I've said that same thing on this forum before. I agree with you completely.

I believe this is run by a conglomerate that specializes in forums for different industries, including auto. My guess would be VerticalScope Inc. That's part of the reason that moderation of topics like this aren't immediately frozen or merged and ad hominem runs rampant.

I've actually thought about deploying a forum for those of us who want to discuss the technology side of the MME and actually control the BS posts, make stickies etc. The lack of moderation and the people who think this is a myspace friend count competition (only post count) by repetitively posting and reviving dead threads drives me up a wall.

Specifically, you're definitely right. And they use the same software on all sorts of other automotive enthusiast sites.
I was however, trying to deter the rumor mill about Ford having a hand in this forum somehow.

Pretty sure every "insert vehicle name here forum.com" is owned by the same company. My friend used to be a Admin for the Subaru Outback forum when they got bought by a huge company.

And collects every story about battery fires in EVs but not in ICE vehicles.

Mine used to show 260 at 90% but it got cold here and is now showing 220. OMG IS MY BATTERY FAULTY SHOULD I ROLL IT IN THE RIVER?
Same here and it hasn’t even been that cold yet! My Wife has been freaking out about it and wants to fully charge up the car again. I just keep telling her that its only an estimate and not to worry about it! Lol
