I'm a UX designer, and had the exact same thought as you. And at the time, they were hiring UX designers, but the salary was such a drop off, that I never really considered it. If they really want to get competitive in this space, they really need to get competitive, and that means from a talent and compensation standpoint.
Large non-IT related corporations often have rigid compensation structures, with HR departments that are not experienced or skilled with IT staffing. And with corporate management that is not appreciative of the importance and value of the IT hire and that is not in tune with current IT recruiting and compensation strategies.

When was the last time you had a software update? Might need to be done manually by your dealership. I had a few of your issues, but got the update, smooth sailing! After the update I had to go back thru and reset some of my personal settings tho. Found this out week or so later, when I traveled with my dog and alarm was triggered!
Got a bunch on Dec 03, and a few on Dec 27. Both times they Factory reset (not master reset) everything...

Had to reinstall all the paak/locks/codes etc. Somehow text to speech magically worked before the second reset, then it went away and I fiddled and fiddled and finally Dec 27 - Jan 7 this AM it finally worked again. Hello Ford, Txt person. "I'm sorry, not communicating". Then later on in the drive it all of a sudden told me there was a txt message. Nothing changed, I was driving.

Paak is Craap, I always give the Mrs. my phone to put in the car when I help her back out, and I have the fob on me. She rolled the window down and said "no key found". Worked when she walked out with it...

Welp, saw rant and started replying before I realized 'wrong rant'. But I'm keeping it...

These bugs made me want to work for Ford and help these issues fixed so I went on their website and saw a remote connected car devops engineer role and laughed when I saw the high end of their salary. Its very hard to steal engineers from big tech companies when the pay sucks. Just my two cents - I have worked at AWS and now Microsoft and have seen the crazy offers other tech companies make to poach employees and I know Ford just wont be able to keep up. As much as I want to help fix these bugs, I still want to live comfortably.
I have not looked but what was the number. I figured it is low but how low? Right now my talking number starts at 180k a year base. How far off are they from that.

lol they said its between 80k and 135k based on experience. So if you meet ALL of their criteria and really wow them you will get 135k base. I cant really speak for their comp packages but, they would have to significantly compensate in the base pay with sign on bonuses, stock options, and other incentives.

Two issues not reported in this thread yet:

1. Sometimes when I enter the car, it selects a profile not associated with my Fob or phone. Sometimes it selects my wife's profile, and sometimes the guest profile. It seems like it happens most frequently when I remote start the car, and maybe that is the only time it happens, but I am not sure yet. Luckily it does not go to her seat position, which is strange because it should.

2. When the car is locked, the interior motion sensor cannot be turned off. My wife was sitting in the car waiting for me and without her Fob, so the car locked her in and then the alarm started going off. I thought it was quite funny to come out to see her sitting there with the lights flashing and beeping, but she was not so amused. This one really, really needs to be fixed and at the top of the list IMO.

Hi there – send a message to us with your VIN and approximate mileage. I’ll look into this for you. Thanks!

I still love mine even tho the few annoyances can piss us off! I like the fact Ford is trying to update to make our experiences better, but maybe they need to leave well enough alone and let us all catch up on what’s already been launched and to make sure those are working properly first in our cars.

I just got my car last week and noticed the same behavior with profile selection. I would have expected it to auto-select based on FOB or phone but at the moment it is just random. I’d be interested to see others experience.

Like many of you, we love driving our MME. We’ve had it since February of 2021. While we had many of the PaaK issues mentioned in this thread, we learned how to correct or cope with most of them despite all of the frustration they caused at times.

However, l made a serious mistake when I called a Ford guide the third time in October when the car was stuck trying to download 1.7.1. During an attempt to download 1.7.1, the Pass got some brake warnings and restraint warnings so the technician at Ford told me to take it to the dealer. I did and the car sat at the dealership for 32 straight days until the engineers at Ford finally decided to replace the car’s apim. During this period Ford told me they wanted to keep the car at the dealership so they could figure out how to fix the software issues (the warnings were just false notifications caused by the download attempt). Ford also told me that they learned a lot from trying to correct our car so others with the same download issues now do not have to leave their cars at dealerships to have modules replaced. They also were able to make corrections with 1.7.1.

Since getting our car back, Ford Pass really doesn’t recognize our car. Bluetooth will not connect. I know that I should probably delete the app from the phone, download it again, reset the car and go through the entire process in the car again. However my phone indicates that their are now two Mach e devices in Bluetooth and I don’t recall this being the case before the apim replacement. As a result I haven’t attempted to do anything with PaaK. Instead we purchased a second fob. If any of you know if I should attempt to reset and reload to set up PaaK when there is more than one Bluetooth device, let me know. Any help will be truly appreciated. We may be masochist, but we still love our car. We just wish it was easier to live with.

Ford, Paak is all you need! You don't need a 2nd Key!

Actual Use, Paak is Craap, buy a ~$400 second fob...

For most of both my iPhones life, I've had two Mach E bluetooth entries "Mustang Mach-E" and (last 5 VIN) "12345 MACH-E"

Not sure what the VIN one is, but Paak uses the Mustang Mach-E according to the setup.

But you're gonna have to go into settings and do a Master Reset and delete the app from your phone. It will tell you 'We found/see previous data' when you re-install, just tell it to use that.

/I've had to Master Reset twice and the Dealership has Factory Reset twice (and I've had to reset the Sync screen numerous times due to scrambled screen syndrome)

One is PAAK, the other is SYNC. PAAK should have a bluetooth symbol, SYNC should have a headphone symbol, because Media Audio is connected as well as Phone Calls.

I've had my car for a little over a week now, but I had to drive from Cleveland to Detroit to get it because I was not going to pay $10k over MSRP (or worse), and that's where I found it at a dealership that was willing to go for MSRP and had a car I wanted (thanks again, Bill Brown Ford).

Anyway, I've already put 700 miles or so on the car, so I'm in it a lot. While I've not experienced most of the problems here (mine was built toward the end of '21, so has a 2nd fob, for example), I have experienced a few.

The most consistent and annoying one is this: when my wife is nowhere near the car (often a dozen or more miles away, for example), it will somehow see MY fob and MY phone in my pocket (both associated with my profile) and still select her profile. This is problematic because I'm 6'1" and she's 4'10", so the seat rises to a level where it's hard for me to get in the car, let alone maneuver myself into place to select the correct profile. It's also selected Guest twice now, but that's a lot less common.

Oh, and please give me some custom layouts on the instrument cluster, Ford! I had several to choose from on my cheaper '18 Chevy Bolt and our '17 Chevy Volt.
