it will somehow see MY fob and MY phone in my pocket (both associated with my profile) and still select her profile.
I have noticed this as well. It seems like it only happens when I remote start the car. Has it happened to you when you have not remote started it? I removed my wife's Fob from her profile and the next time I remote started, the car selected the Guest profile. Makes no sense.

Every time I remote start, I get the Guest profile. I'm guessing when the car is powered on, is when it checks for the profile id and sets it for seats, infotainment, etc. When starting without a fob/PAAK present, that value is undefined so you likely get an unexpected result. When the driver actually enters the car with the fob/PAAK, it likely retrieves it, but the car has already done its sequence of using that value on start up and doesn't reset. It makes some sense in that if two people have PAAK enabled phones in the car, you don't want it randomly flip flopping back and forth if it loses contact with one and then picks up the other.

They could have Ford Pass send the profile id/PAAK id when remote starting. They could also have it set the profile when you press the Start button before driving (a step that's outside the non-remote start start sequence and either copied some of the logic from a cold start, but omitted the profile step or is actually just a paused state in the standard start and already past setting the profile).

That's an old one, and a bug. The headlight switch appears to be correctly in the Auto position, but the headlights are on, and it chimes when you get out.

Fix - turn knob to OFF, then back to Auto.

This is not a physical switch, despite looking like one.
I seem to have this issue as well. Wondering if that is one of the possible causes of the 12V battery faults that are a problemt as well. Assuming that we'll just have to wait for a software patch. Has anyone heard of a possible fix?

To the original poster - you bought a first-year car. You probably knew there would be glitches. Most people here wanted the car and understand that everything you mention will be corrected eventually. I have found the software to improve with each OTA. I do not have any of your issues, but I do not use PAAK. I was given a second fob when I bought the car. I now have 9K miles on it. If these things are that frustrating, then consider not buying a first year car next time.

I've had it happen both with a remote start and without, sadly, but in the past two days it hasn't happened at all? Probably because I decided to post about it :)

Yep. Got the guest profile for the first time today! So confused, mache wouldn’t start to precondition my car. Figured guest profile was invited. Never had a guest use my car to drive! Keep the mysteries coming I guess.

That’s really helpful !'ll unbuy the car and hit delete on my last 6 months of ownership. Why didn't I think of that?

Not sure what you mean by that? If you don't like the car then sell it and go rant on some other forum...

Ok - this is a rant. If you don't like rants don't read this - please!

There are so many issues with this car, primarily the software which is soooo bad and irritating and frustrating to continually deal with. I love the driving experience but the technology experience - not. Overall not a great experience. Here goes...

FordPass Issues
Not consistent recording Journeys

Problem setting up Preferred Charging Times - Wont let me set 'when plugged in' - produces error msg sometimes.

Freezes sometimes when trying to load screen to set charge times etc

Home Screen does not reliably update charge and range. Says 'updated just now' but data is a day old.

Paak does not reliably open car. And No key found error frequently, so with only one fob must use the access and backup codes.

View Chargers on home page does not reliably return any results (no results found) even when sitting at a charge station

Trip planner view trip does not show the city for each stop

Charging Times not honored. Stopped because Departure Time but no departure time is set.

Sometimes won't honor specified Manual charge settings times or max % charge.

Fordpass won't connect to car periodically.

Foot swipe opens hatch 1/2 the time, and sometimes it stops lifting part way through.

In car with phone - says Bluetooth not connected sometimes.

GOM - Premium AWD Extended - 160 mile winter range in temperate climate with a full tank. And that's about what I'm getting

Automatic headlights work most of the time but not all - unreliable.

So unreliable and unpredictable - not what you want in an automobile.

Ok I feel better now. Oops - made the mistake of trying to view the charge status. FordPass sits and spins. Lovely.
I have had many of what you have stated and others but one that really bothers me is no regulation when stating projected mileage. The EPA should dictate that an electric car could lose half of the stated range that was done under ideal conditions. I think losing 50% or more when temps are a little below freezing was a shock to many of us. I would like to see a poll of how many new buyers new that they could lose this much range in cold weather. Ford did alot of testing in cold weather according to what they have stated, but yet never a word about this kind of loss to this degree. in the cold the MME is like a less car than was advertised. You should not have to worry about turning off your heater for better mileage and should not have to have a voltmeter plugged in to your power point. I wonder what percent of people are pursing the lemon law?

I for one do not call his complaints rants but just stating things that should not be. Hopefully Ford can see some of these issues and correct them or do you think calling Ford customer service will get the job done!!

It is not the job our our government to educate you on a product that costs $60,000 or more. It is your responsibility to understand what you are buying. I totally understand why people feel they are misled, but that is the wrong way to look at it.

In this age, we have unlimited access to information. You can Bing BEV cold driving range and find all you need to know about it. You can join this forum PRIOR to committing $60k and learn all you need to know about the MME. You don't need some overpaid bureaucrat to spoon feed you what you need to know. It is your money, you better understand what you are using it for. If you don't, it is nobody's fault but yours.

When I first got excited about BEVs, I did not understand that range estimates are not highway range estimates. ICE vehicles go farther on the highway than in the city. That is not true for BEVs. So when I heard that the Rivian R1T had a range of 400 miles, I assumed that was highway miles. As I researched and read forum comments, I learned that is not true.

Long before I gave $61,000 to Ford, I understood what I was buying. And I love my car. It is so much better than all my previous ICE vehicles in so many ways. Not in range, of course, but in many other areas. That is why I purchased it.

Stop complaining about your first world problems. If you really can't deal with the range of your car in winter, sell it. I bet you can get close to what you paid for it. Move on. Take responsibility for your choices and your lack of research before buying. It is nobody's fault but yours.

That is so well said. Take a poll on how many people thought they would lose 50% of their range in the Winter. I did early research but those numbers were not being talked about at that time. I really appreciate all of your good advice as it is clear that you have been around longer than me.

Thanks. On a side note, I do not think it is accurate to say that the MME loses 50% of range when the temperature is a little below freezing. It is accurate if the temperature is a lot below zero, but if it is in the 20s you can definitely do better than that based on my experience driving my MME. So much depends on how you drive it and how warm you want it, but for me, 67 degrees in the cabin is very comfortable. And as much fun as it is to floor it, driving like grandma will help also.

Two issues not reported in this thread yet:

1. Sometimes when I enter the car, it selects a profile not associated with my Fob or phone. Sometimes it selects my wife's profile, and sometimes the guest profile. It seems like it happens most frequently when I remote start the car, and maybe that is the only time it happens, but I am not sure yet. Luckily it does not go to her seat position, which is strange because it should.

2. When the car is locked, the interior motion sensor cannot be turned off. My wife was sitting in the car waiting for me and without her Fob, so the car locked her in and then the alarm started going off. I thought it was quite funny to come out to see her sitting there with the lights flashing and beeping, but she was not so amused. This one really, really needs to be fixed and at the top of the list IMO.
I had this same issue even though I knew I had paired my phone with my profile. Somehow, it got Removed for remote start so the car was switching profiles when I remote started. I remote started, sat in it, switched to my profile, went under the phone connection in the car and there it showed no phone linked for remote start. I then selected to add a phone and it made me press and hold the lock (or unlock) button from the app to link phone. Since then the issue is gone. It’s almost like there’s multiple places and ways you have to do a bunch of stuff because the system isn’t syncing all information from all modules.
