Anyone worried about charging their MME at a hotel overnight?

When I bought in Richmond VA and drove to FL I had to stay overnight and wanted to charge at a hotel. I read some advice on best ways to do this. Basically, check PlugShare to make sure chargers work, see where the spots are located on the property (if they are right by the entrance they could be iced). I am also a single petite female so I wanted to be in a good, safe area. I didn’t get to the hotel until 11:30 and all 3 spots were open. Plugged in and everything was great. No issues. I‘m sure there’s areas where spots could be full or this will become more of an issue as more people get EVs.

Worlds slowest charger - Aria self parking...Massive hotel, 4 'free chargers'. And they're barely faster than a 110 plug. Took 3 days to charge, and it wasn't fully discharged when I plugged in

I've done it once, the hotel had 2 ChargePoint chargers (4 plugs)off network and you had to get the front desk to turn them on so they knew you were staying there. They were free. It was 32amp L2 charging I think.

Here's what ticked me off. Plug in hybrids trying to take all the chargers... I only got a charger because a guy couldn't figure it out and left, the others were all taken by hybrids. Those hybrids were plugged in before I got there and still plugged in the next day after I left.

I'd just suggest finding a hotel with nearby fast charging if the hotel options don't work out

What I mean is their is a difference in the past from parking your car at a hotel for the night. You locked it up and went in and went to bed. I have ordered my MME and am waiting, but does it bother anyone to be plugging their EV in over night and knowing someone could mess with the charger, or unplug your car as a joke? Plus, I assume it is first come first serve, to a hotel charging station. So you navigate to a hotel with an “open” charger, but by the time you get there, it is taken what do you do? Are these things to worry about?

My experience: I went to the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids Mi with my Mach e. Asked the valet where the charge stations are located but they said they are taken. They offered to valet park and connect it when available. I stayed overnight, and used my FordPass app to monitor the car and charging. I saw when they plugged it in. When I received the car the next day, it was charged to 80% and no issues or cost for charging. I will do it again next time I visit. It is worth using valet parking.

I have the accidental unplug notification on in FordPass, in case someone decides to unplug me overnight.

Never had any issues with too many other cars. The first thing I do when booking a hotel is check if the have charging.

It might also comfort you to know that the app will notify you if your car gets "Accidentally Unplugged" (unplugged before a target charge level was reached).

Is it really that sensitive? I thought you had to open a door or tilt the vehicle to trigger.

I'm worried that the more electric models that are pushed out and coming in the next year or two, will overrun the one or two hotel charge stations and there will be no way to get a charge spot at the height of vacation season. That means a rather long walmart parking lot, or similar, stopover. Not something I would be looking forward to do on vacation.

I've had no issues with people unplugging, etc.
I also carry a Tesla Tap (great at wineries in the Okanagan) even just to help boost me up to the next winery. Designated driver of course.
And as others have noted, be aware of where the Fast Chargers are.

I saw a similar post where they had a ok to unplug at a certain time. I personally would feel awkward removing someone else charger unless stated but I guess for some you do what you have to do.

Several points:

- the DC fast charger isn't "rather long". Worse case maybe 40 minutes, depending on the level of charge needed. With the latest update, you can charge to 90% instead of 80% prior, so that's good even though it's not the 100% of the hotel.

- Sure, at the height of a vacation period in a vacation area, you may not find a free charger available. That's just life - make alternate plans. Some hotel locations have multiple hotels that the group owns, so you might find they have one nearby and you can use it and have them shuttle you over if necessary. In addition, there are often local parking lots / garages, or car dealers, that have chargers (also Harley Davidson dealers).

We're headed to an area next month. Hotel has a charger, grocery store has a charger, electric charger (all level 2). High speed charger 16 miles away.

I have plugged in overnight at a hotel a few times. The charging was free and I was the only one that was at the chargers overnight each time. It was a nicer hotel, that I actually decided on because it had the free charging as well as a closer proximity to where we wanted to be in the area.

Co-pilot is great for that. Blue Cruise will be better once I get past the 1.71 road block. But yes, it does make it a bit easier when being the Designated Driver.
