The ground clearance difference between the Premium and GT is about 0.5". Only you can say if that's likely to be meaningful to you in the snow. My GT have never scraped anything, anywhere (though I've had it for less than two months). My Prius used to scrap all over the place. I live in San Francisco on a 25% grade hill with sharp transitions at the top and bottom of the hill (and even sharper at the top of the 29% grade the next street over). I've not had any issues with any of these - even with three sizable adults in the car...I just compared window stickers and one thing that is odd that is left off is windshield de-icer? Otherwise with the addition of blue cruise and pano roof nothing else sticks out?
Any issues with ground clearance that worries me I will have snow to deal with as well at times.
Regarding the windshield de-icer, there is definitely a windshield defroster setting in the HVAC system, though I've not been in snowy weather yet to test it. There is a wiper heater too - it's activated with he rear winder defroster, as I recall.
Go get the GT!
