On US 50 this AM in Annapolis. Going 70 in 55 mph zone when I got a car stuck to my back bumper flashing high beams at me. So close that I could not tell what it was. Tapping brakes had no effect . When I was about to pull over the middle lane they passed me on the right and gave me the finger as they sped off. I could then see that it was a MME.

What a dumbass, it’s like the easily car to identify someone, don’t piss off people unless you want your car keyed

Clearly, you didn’t brake check them properly. A proper brake check is to slam on the brakes for a panic stop.
you then tell them that you rhought they were signaling you to help them test them that their emergency braking and evasive steering assist were working correctly.

Just bc that person was driving an MME does not mean they/He/She are/is a courteous or smart driver

It's not the Car or EV.....It's the Driver who gives us all in here a bad rap....... :D unless one of you guys drives like that maniac.....o_O

You never really know why someone is in a hurry. Could be going to the hospital, could have seen someone breaking into their house on their camera, or could have just caught his wife cheating.

Whatever the reason, never brake check and just move over!

Still no excuse for riding the bumper of the car in front.

This. While I personally admit I'd have called him an idiot if he did that to me also... The proper response to this is that you were doing 70 in a 55, in the left lane... It was your responsibility to move over to clear the passing lane... (Yea right, now that we acknowledged the textbook response we can continue our normal response.)

Brake checking is dangerous. However, there is no excuse to tailgate that closely at that speed for ANY reason. One can be impatient and in a hurry, while signaling a desire to pass, from a slightly safer distance. If nothing else having some distance allows the impatient driver an opportunity to use a gap, aggressively albeit more safely than from on the bumper, if the leading vehicle fails to yield.

IMO.

Don't tailgate like that.
