I'm pretty sure according to the bulletin some if not all affected VINs will need a replacement part. MY guess is only GTs will actually need a replacement part but who knows it is way too early to know. They may put it in all extended range...or all vehicles in general.
If there is a more robust contactor available, I'd rather have it installed, even if my vehicle isn't in much danger.

Well Crap, now EVERY Mach E will have the GT 5 Second Rule...

Meaning, the GT has a 5 second rule because the battery might overheat. So now the Software fix is to limit the car to 5 second 'runs' to prevent overheating?
That would really bite. I sincerely hope Ford doesn't turtle-mode the entire line.

Anyone know (maybe from previous experience with the seat belt or glass recalls) how long it takes the Ford.com or NHTSA sites to get the VIN list? I'd like to know if I'm on the list, but I don't really want to spam ford chat either.

Yeah contacting Ford is simply a waste of time, i.e. people can read the recall.

I’m literally the most unlucky person on earth. I booked tickets for a vacation trip knowing that the car would arrive next weekend. I was to pick it up tomorrow as it came early a week, dealer called me telling me that my car is affected and can not sell it anymore until it’s fixed. A first estimate would be August - September.

I think we should at least get some kind of refund from Ford. This is unbelievably disturbing as I have vacation planned at that point and no one can guarantee that the dealer will keep the car on his lot until Im back and obviously I’m not canceling my overseas trip.

long story short we should organize and do something about it. We bought the 2021 car and will be delivered in almost more than a year.

In the affected vehicles, it is possible that the high voltage battery main contacts may overheat, which can result in an open contact or welding condition.

Or will it turn the A/C battery pre-cooling fans on every 5 seconds if you are going 'too fast'

/yay
The GT’s 5 second power rule has nothing to do with this. If that limiter was the fix, then we wouldn’t have seen any GTs with this issue when in reality they’ve been more affected than any other model.

I wonder how they determine the "certain" vehicles affected?

Sounds like it's probably all. Hmm.
