Hmm....This makes me think that the as specified part was robust enough (maybe marginally for the GT), but they are seeing greater variability between parts than expected from the part supplier. If I were to take a stab in the dark, I would say material thickness. This stated in the NHTSA document.
Description of the Cause : The design and part-to-part variation of the high voltage battery contactor is not robust to the heat generated during DC fast charging and multiple wide open pedal events.
Not Robust? Obviously a design flaw. When the software detects a resistance change power will be reduced. Has some small level of damage occurred during this event? Is it cumulative? I expect eventual failures of the HVBJB. Better have an extended warranty on hand.
Wonder why not all are affected then .If 286 warranty claims have been made out of approximately 50,000 vehicles, that’s a failure rate of 0.5%.
Dealers can add points to options if they want, so what your original rate is doesn't really matter FWIW![]()
see attachment above. hope this helps.
again, i just requested options. but there are more details you could request.
This describe me 100% I also enjoy driving my car, I make it fun for me and safe for other, definitley didn't spend $74k to drive it the same way I drive our Prius! otherwise I can keep using the Prius for grocery, this is something those guys with boring Selects won't understand, same as those owners who brag about 330 miles range on a GT!*raises hand*
I've owned sports cars all of my life and now I'm at the point where I want sports car like performance with the utility of a crossover.
I have a lead food and I drive in a manner that some might consider aggressive.
I try to make my daily commute both fun (for me) and safe (for those around me). I also like to road rally with my friends. Rally driving behavior is stressful to any car but I'm pretty disappointed with stamina of my Mach-E GT.
I feel like the Mach-E GT and GTPE were an afterthought and they were never designed for drivers like me. I should have been skeptical I am not going to change how I drive my GT especially since ford will be covering 100% of the bill for 8 years/100,000 miles if the HVBJB fails again. By that time there will be much better and authentic "Grand Touring" options out there. The MME GT is just not engineered to hang with the big dogs on a rally yet.
Quoted from the document. Not sure I agree, the idea is to limit before that happens, not after the fact to protect. Stopping the MME knowingly from accelerating would be a dangerous fix. Who knows... time will tell I guess.

We bought the right car that fit us, but it looks like Ford failed to make the Mach E GT trustworthy of the GT emblem that it's holding.
Yes, if you do repeated 0-60 at WOT, you may see this condition. Like, for instance, a dealer demo unit level of 0-60 events.Quoted from the document.
“The updated BECM software (NJ98-14C197-AE, NJ98-14C197-BD) will monitor contactor resistance to identify an overheated contactor and reduce vehicle power to prevent further damage”.
The key words to “prevent further damage”. Multiple events will create a cumulative damage condition. Expect failures.
In this case, call your dealer. We would only be speculating. AND THAT'S NOT ALLOWED HERE ANYMORE! ?I had a build date of week of 5/23 and was notified this morning by Ford that my vehicle has shipped with an expected delivery of 8/13 - 8/19. Am I to assume that this will be delivered with the recall issue already resolved?
Tell us that in year 4. Right now it's simply wasted money...My extended warranty purchase is looking better and better all the time.
