I don't think you understand a lot about electricity but thats ok. There have been some very good educated guesses on the detection methods Ford will use in this thread. It's not like they had sensors in there that were turned off, they're just using the sensors they have to do other things they didn't expect to use them for.

I agree hardware replacements are probably required for at a minimum the GTs, but if the failure rate of EX4's and other trims is tiny then it seems silly to spend the money to replace ALL of those when you can use software to predict failures instead which is a safe method. Of course if they find out they can't truly predict the failures then a full recall of hardware will be required.

Not saying I'm right....just my guess. Hopeful guess.
I have a 2022 Premium ER RWD and no recall yet on my VIN or letter that I bought in Feb. I have a GTPE that I ordered back in Dec. 2021, built 05/19 and of course sitting at my dealership and I'm just drewlling over the Pony.
Is the recall on the GT trims and all other AWD trims with ER batteries only? Has anybody got a recall letter on any other trims especially RWD's?
Sorry if this questioned has been answered already but with 89 pages strong can't keep up or tried looking on Ford's side of this crazy matter?.....THANKS!!

I took mine in for the windshield recall and they did the module update for this at the same time, nice surprise.
Also, on another note, they did not do the Blue Cruise update, as scheduled to do, because several others in at the same time were done and the vehicle was left in operable so apparently there is some corruption in the software they were sent. So glad they didn’t do mine!
The update is not available at dealers yet. Whatever you got wasn't the recall update.

I saw a few comments today that this is what the software will do, instead of reducing power, as the recall indicates. Where is it written that the software will only monitor and warn?
The fix will have to reduce current draw to prevent damage otherwise it is not really a fix and that will impact performance during WOT & DCFC.

A warning only would be pretty useless as sequence of popups on the dash "sh!t about to hit fan!" followed by "too late it covered the fan" would count as a warning but not exactly be helpful ;)

Until we get the fix everyone gets to enjoy and partake in the speculation on how bad that performance reduction is going to be, will it be undetectable, turn your mach-e into a Revai / G-Wiz or be somewhere in-between.

Is it just me, or is this starting to sound like a giant load of crap
It’s just you (sort of). It’s also this fairly worthless thread. What could have, and should have, been a great thread discussing the potential causes and various solutions as well as whether it relates to the other GT issues has degenerated into a bitching fest and general proclamations that Ford is an impossible cross between the Keystone cops and the Galactic Empire with Jim Farley as either Episode 9’s Palpatine or Darth Vader reborn, or both.

90 pages and less that 6 genuinely useful posts. That’s a new low in these parts.

Well, they said that DC fast charging can cause the damage. DC fast charging starts at 25kw for the lowest power units. If they limit it below that, they have about 30HP to work with. I can't believe they would do this - everyone would be lemon lawing their cars.

If it is really 150kW fast charging that is the issue, that is about 200hp, so say a 175hp limit. Probably not that noticable/horrible in the lower trims, but a heck of a handicap on the ER/AWD and killer for the GT/GTPE.

Yes I am doom and glooming, but I count it as therapy. It is my right as an American to complaint gosh darn it!

Are the new vehicles that are produced after the recall going to be sellable by the dealers? My dealer said no because of the stop sale order from Ford. I thought that those built after 5/27 or whatever would be in the clear... My MME was part of the 5/30 build week and is still waiting to be built. I just want to know if my dealer is wrong or right.... I want to say the stop sell doesn't affect the ones being produced now. also by the time it gets to me it will probably be Aug (If I'm lucky) and the software update will be out by then.

If the new software is supposedly already implemented in newer produced cars, why don’t they just release it already
Maybe the put a more robust part in and they new one's don't need the software update?

DO NOT SELL YOUR CURRENT CAR unless you are fine not having the new car for an extended period of time! I almost made this mistake on Monday afternoon and 2 hours later my car that should be at the dealer next week is now on recall. I’ve seen so many posts about people selling their car early because their new one was almost done and then something happens.
lol yup... I ordered mine in nov and sold my car in Dec becuase I was expecting my MME in april according to the timeline.... I didn't need a car until May so I thought I was good.... Now its June and I'm still in production since 5/30 lol I guess Ford wasn't playing around with that 20+ week estimate when I bought in November... I just hope they give us some goodies or something for waiting so damn long.

As of right now the recall is on all Machs built prior to 5/25. The VIN list may or may not be out yet with all affected vehicles. The recall letter to affected customers is supposed to be sent mid-July with the software OTA to follow. All I know at this time.

I should have received my car tomorow. But today I have got the message from the dealer that they are not allowed to deliver it due to this problem. So all cars build in Mexico are affected, also EU cars. And all series, SR., Rwd, GT, etc... I guess Ford is looking for a solution, software and/or hardware. But they haven't found yet. So cars build after 05/24 are also affected. I hope they will find a solution asap, and hopefully as less impact as possible for recalls and delays in deliveries.
Based on all I have read, I believe Ford has a solution:
1. Software update only for those MMEs built before May 25th and
2. Software update and an updated HVBJB for MME's built after May 24th.
If the updated software flags an unacceptable power reduction event or events, the display will indicated the need to schedule a repair at the dealer, who will replace the HVBJB with the new part number. This saves Ford a lot of money by not having to replace all the faulty HVBJBs (at least in the near term).
