Enjoy your car as is. You can safely ignore everything we're discussing without any problems. Ford releases OTA updates on their own schedule.

You are in a thread with a lot of geeks who enjoy this stuff but it is very much outside the norm of the average Mach-E owner and we're discussing stuff that is utterly irrelevant to normal use and enjoyment of the car.
Omg so good to hear!! Thought this was what your average owner did or had working knowledge of, and if that were the case I would not be up to par. Carry on, and clearly I will consult you if and when I have an issue because people here likely know more about the car then the Ford dealer techs do.

… wow was I wrong. I thought the car would auto update, such as when connected to wifi, and or charging, at night…. Is that not what happens? Because, looking at all this tech data and acronyms (y’all love those lol) makes me think if I’m not some kind of computer engineer with the tech skills of a NASA astronaut, this is not the car for me. I have zero desire or time to manage and worry about abc123 (part f not part d or else the car explodes) latest updates on the qp73xbd module of the jiggermajiggy component within the software. Yes, that’s what it all seems like to me. Clearly, I was wrong simply thinking I could just buy a new car…
I’m still waiting for a module update for the jiggermajiggy. Apparently increases range 200%

Although it pops up in the list of recent posts, this one actually originates in a technical subcategory that's not intended to be of relevance to the average owner.

For example, the software being discussed is what's used by the dealers to update settings. You are in no way, shape, or form required to deal with any of this stuff.

Does anybody know if the updates that just appeared this week for the SOBDMC and the Battery BEMC are the ones the recall wants installed?
For my car, the BECM is the new version listed in the recall. The SOBDMC is one version newer than what's listed in the recall, but I already had the listed version since January, so I'm pretty sure that's a typo.

So I guess we really won't know if what we have already flashed is the intended version until...some procedure is published?

I did these updates to my car yesterday. SODBM had to be completed or I got a "security access violation". Once I updated SODBM the BECM and chained updates completed with no issues, but a lot of DTCs to clear.
Start with the PCM update first, the rest will happen automatically.

I reinstalled FDRS and deleted the cached data. I connected to the car again and tried FDRS again to update. I was able to log in and got the BECM and SODBM updates.

I tried updating the BECM and got the warning about updating multiple modules. I got the same security access violation, so I did not retry. FDRS went on to do the SODBM and it was successful! I then retried the BECM and it was successful.

This seems to indicate the software part numbers in the modules plays a part in determining the access to the updated firmware on the server.

BECM NJ98-14C197-BB -> NJ98-14C197-BD
PCM MJ98-14C204-BDJ -> MJ98-14C204-BDK
SOBDM LJ98-14F476-AS -> LJ98-14F476-AU
SOBDMC LJ98-14G069-BDG -> LJ98-14G069-BDH
Just finishing installing updates. Eric, same exact thing happened to me, same versions. Everything but the BECM and SOBDM installed. Uninstall/reinstalled, cleared cache, and tried BECM again. Failed but went on to SOBDM and that went. However I went back to BECM again, but it didn't work. Tried uninstall/reinstall another time, BECM still didn't work. I clicked retry a few times and rapid fire through the prompts, and suddenly it worked. This really seems like a timing issue, the update isn't waiting long enough for the modules to go into programming mode before talking? Either way that was painful...

So just keep trying rather than uninstalling and reinstalling then?

Is there a option to reset the car in FDRS ? And if yes where ?
So back to factory default i mean, also wiping all errors currently available.

Perform a master reset within Sync. Then you can use FDRS to re-scan and clear all DTCs. That’s it.

How do i do that in Sync, can you explain more ?
This is only Sync4 related, not DTC related is my guess ?

Run a self test in FDRS and select for all modules. Then when it finishes hit clear and retest. Hopefully then you’re all green. You shouldn’t need to reset sync for DTCs.
