my wife asked last week what would happen if my PAAK failed. I said there is a code I use and can start the car. Well, nope. I have had it a year and 24k miles. PAAK is certainly not perfect, but never stranded me until now.

Waiting for my wife to bring my one key. I could start the car. It connected to my phone and placed calls etc... but it said I don't have a key.

Restarted my phone, etc....

I thought there was a screen to start with a code. These updates must have wiped it. I noticed my schedules are gone. And a few other things. I hate being an early adopter.

I am just glad it isn't 110 outside and that I am at a strip mall rather than the side of the road hundreds of miles from home.

Oh and to bag a bit more, I opted for the trial plug and charge. All that means is that I have to pay fill price per KW rather than my membership discount, and pay for charging on free holidays.

Grumble grumble. Here comes my wife to save the day. I will eat some crow tonight!

Man! So sorry to hear that. But…don’t be sorry to be an early adopter. I thank you, and that’s not a joke. This is high end tech and software, etc. Mine will work better because of you. Not to be cheesy. Just roll with it. Report if possible. Hang in there.

Dang that is horrible. I see you have a sweet looking (love the rims and calipers) well experienced ride with 24k-have to ask have you ever had any other problems like this before?
I have a Job 1 car and have only used the fob for the few times I’ve had to have dealer service - otherwise 100% PaaK for me. I have 14k and this post gives me some chills due to your stranding,
When you have a few spare minutes could you elaborate on measures you tried to make it work?
I’ve certainly gotten in, started up, and the the “No key detected“ and it won’t shift into D, usually a few on and off with brake pedal and 10 seconds or so and it gets all figured out and off I go. Sorry for the hassle —we should expect PaaK to never leave us high and dry. It was and is a huge selling feature of the MachE.

I have had no problems to this level before. Sometimes it takes a few presses on start, or I have to check my Bluetooth.

I tried everything I knew. I remember setting up a password for what I thought was for this exact scenario but I could not get to anywhere in the menu letting me start with a password. I really think some things got wiped in an update.

I may have the dealer do the other updates since mine seem to be coming very slowly. Still no bluecruise despite being a beta tester.

Bummer. I have had one unrecoverable PaaK failure, but it wasn’t because of the most current SW update. The screen asking for my backup start code did not present. Loads od fun with the car’s alarm setting itself off. I even got a FP notice that the alarm was triggered. ??

WRT P and C, I have had it active since I got my car. I did not have my “free 250KW” balance reduced on any free EA weekends. Since they don’t seem to be doing any more free weekends, I guess that point is moot. In the case of having an EA account with the reduced rate, you can just use your EA credentials at the DCFC station prior to plugging in and you will get the reduced rate (since you wre logged into the station with your EA account, the station should. Ot try to authenticate your car’s account via P and C). ??

OH MY GOD!

THE HORROR, THE HORROR!

I WOULD CONSIDER GOING TO CANADA, BECAUSE OF THE SHAME. YOUR NEIGHBORS WILL LAUGH AT YOU.

Has nothing to do with PaaK, just the shame of having your wife lord over you.

;) :D:D:D:D????

Admitting your wife was right is the first step to reconciliation. Congrats on starting the journey. You can do this.

Would it help to carry the FOB? Do most people have the fob with them or just rely on the paak? I feel if u need a house key just as easy to have it with you on your key chain. Sorry u got stranded… face it, the wife is always right, spoken as a wife lol

Rely on my phone to send a text? Yea, sure.
Rely on my phone to get me home? I'm not that trusting.
I still hate the idea of not having a metal key hidden in the fob.

That would kind of defeat the purpose of paak. Well I guess the only benefit you would gain is a frunk button in the app.
I don’t carry keys and have used paak for 12k miles now. Ive used the code more times then I can count but it is what it is.
Op, if the code prompt is gone and you can’t get it back walk away from the vehicle. Let it reset for a few min, put your phone in airplane mode (mine usually disappears because of CarPlay), and try again. Ive never had to do that though.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

How can I contact "The Official Ford Account" about my problems with the steady amber warning light while charging. My dealer is clueless!

Are you suggesting the Canadian national colour of red is due to embarrassed Americans living here?

happy national holidays everyone.

PS to OP, keep believing in PAAK, it just needed a day off to relax.
