What does this actually mean? Currently I'm in production, have a window sticker with batch 006844, 129/300, but I haven't seen that particular batch number in the current build schedule, even though they were predicting 7/4/2022 as the build week but put the car status to Production around 6/28/2022. ?

I was "In Production" starting 1/10. Then 1/19. It was done on 3/1. Therefore it means nothing.

Believe it's in production once it has a scheduled week of production.

In production means nothing, mine is in production for last two months. Currently showing for production week of 8/22.

ford is very poor in planning.

Mine was built a year ago, so this may mean nothing, but mine went into production about 2-3 weeks before my build date. Then a week after my build date it went into "built". I think it just means as above it has a date to be produced and a few weeks before its actually scheduled.

Thanks. That's the first time I've seen 6844 mentioned. Is it usually an accurate beginning of the build?
I saw that you posted it, but not in a thread where I usually look (e.g. build week 7/4 chat). Getting a window sticker is usually the best indication of an imminent "build". No guarantee though. "In production" & VIN notification only means your order has been scheduled, typically a month or so before actual assembly. Assembly to shipping takes only 6-10 days, usually monitored and reported by a few folks who share the batch number. However, delays of all sorts confound predictions about completion and delivery.

I believe once you have a production state scheduled, the tracker will shift to "in production." The best way to know whether production has actually started is to check for modules. You should see a long list on that website if modules have been populated/activated; if there is just a row or two, then your car probably isn't actively being built. In the past it seemed like modules were the last step, and people knew roughly how many modules each trim should have to determine if it was completed. For me, modules populated early and production didn't finish until a few days later... but I was part of the batch that was held for about three weeks while Ford paused the factory and sorted out the recall issue with the high voltage battery junction connector.

Your car will be in this status for 3-6 weeks. Then it will be ’built’ for a few days to a couple of weeks. Once it is ’shipped’ it probably won’t go anywhere, then it will go to a few places where it will sit for days or weeks. At some point, it will get to the dealer but no one really knows when. Your dealer may contact you, but they may sell the car to someone willing to pay extra for it. Welcome to the Ford Customer Experience.

Probably on a chip hold. Most of the car has been built.

I believe that a car is considered to be in production when it first goes to the body shop to have the basic frame assembled, including doors, rear hatch, and hood. And then it goes to the paint shop. After that it goes to the actual assembly line where various components are put in: seats, steering wheel, dash (including instrument cluster and central display), electric motor(s), battery, etc. A car can be considered to be production while it is on a chip hold. That happened to me. Spent 10 weeks waiting for some chips before it finally was finished being “built”.

This is most likely correct. It goes “in production” status when it starts the BIW line. After paint it can potentially store for a while if the variant combination doesn’t have everything needed for final assembly.
