My wife cannot ride in my AWD Premium Mach E without getting motion sickness. She is prone to this anyway but even my daughter feels a little funky after being in the back seat awhile. I have a friend who traded in his Premium for a GT and says the ride and handling is better, but his family never had a problem with motion sickness so I am not sure his feedback is meaningful for my problem. Has anyone driven both cars and found the GT does not cause the same car sick issues for their passengers? Trying to figure out a long term fix so we can stop using her ICE car every time we go somewhere together!

Did your friend get the GT or GTPE?

I have the GT but never a premium to compare to but can tell you the regular GT can get pretty bouncy.

Is the motion sickness from the bounciness of the car or the jerky motion of learning one pedal driving? Only the GT Performance Edition has the Magnaride suspension. The regular GT has the same suspension as your Premium.

Are you using propulsion sounds? One of, if not the main, purpose of the sound is it’s an audio cue for passengers to anticipate acceleration and deceleration.

I think the motion sickness is part bounce and part related to the smooth quiet acceleration. I say that because a couple times she started feeling funny almost immediately. I think it almost creates a sea sick feeling (like you get on gentle waves) rather than just a reaction to the bouncing. The idea from another post to pipe in the sound is interesting. Maybe that would make it feel more normal?

Something's different between the 2 as the GT rides lower.

I doubt the sound will solve anything, it's so subtle. The quick acceleration is due to how you drive of course, you can moderate the pedal. My wife doesn't like how I drive it.

I don't know of the GT PE with MagneRide will solve all the problems.

There are three issues:

1) One-pedal acceleration and regen can be harsh on the passengers. I know I don't care for 1PD while as a passenger in Teslas.

2) Mach-E's blended braking is pretty rough. Known issue. The Bolt, Polestar 2, Teslas have the smoothest braking implementations. ID.4 does too but all German EVs don't actually brake to a stop (not 1PD).

3) Mach-E's suspension is both firm and bouncy. Wow.. does my new Premium like to hop like a bunny over speed bumps. In general it is pretty firm on most roads but any pothole could cause passengers to pop out of their seats.

I’ve noticed that I actually give myself motion sickness when I drive “enthusiastically” which is somewhat frequently. Whisper mode and 2PD works best for my wife and I when it comes to motion sickness since you can coast.

I’ve read another person who thought it was the bumpy ride that caused motion sickness and, while that could be the case, I’ve driven MUCH bumpier cars throughout my life and never had an issue. For me, it didn’t become a problem until I had this car with instant torque that can accelerate so quickly and easily that I frequently don’t even realize how much quicker I’m driving vs being in my ICE. If I drive calm, no sickness results.

To add to the list above, I find, even as the driver, that unbridled is aggressive at deceleration, try whisper for a smoother ride.

Nope, it's different. The GT has different tuning in the shocks, different anti-roll bars, and different (lower) springs

I have not driven a regular Mach E GT but it could be a very different experience.

Thanks for the correction. Does any of that translate into less bounce or is it just for performance?

Having had an AWD courtesy car for a few days I can understand why some have struggled. My car is RWD, and in comparing how the two drive I found the AWD to feel a little odd, feeling almost at times like the two motors were fighting one another, or as one decelerated the other accelerated creating a subtle sway to the forward motion.

The bounce is about dampening and that's the shocks so it's possible. That's why people say Magniride solves the problem because it offers adjustable dampening. I also read one of the forum members just installed the Steeda rear anti-roll bar and he said his car is less bouncy. I bought one to try and will post my experience.

Its probably also subjective so I would suggest you drive a GT and see if you find it better

The bounce is different, and less. @markboris installed GT springs in his Premium and noticed a significant difference/improvement. He then put the GT shocks on his Premium and didn't notice much difference (Mark, correct me if my memory is off).

The "bounce" effect is generally reported to be worse in the Premium when compared to the GT, but even the GTPE has been reported to have a bounce issue. But the GTPE is better than the GT, and GTPE bounce varies with drive mode.
