With all the GTs that have recently been hitting forum members, I am curious if we could compile observations from those that have had the opportunity to compare the GTs to the regular models (esp Premium) first hand?

We know the GT is faster but I am interested to know what other observations and comparisons you might have? Particularly for those of us who arent going to be taking this to the track - for real world driving, what should we consider when deciding whether to step up to the GT?

Would love any thoughts...thanks!

A couple observations I've noticed in the roughly two weeks of driving the GTPE. The Premium I drove would get into what has been described as a harmonic bounce front to back on certain sections of freeway. The GTPE does not exhibit that behavior. @markboris posted about using GT springs in a non-GT to fix the issue. The Magneride in the GTPE is awesome. The ride is so stable and tight, but not jarring. It feels planted and there are absolutely zero rattles or noises even over rough roads.

On the flip side, the Premium had more of a luxury sedan feel to the interior than the GT, so if that's a factor in your decision you may want to experience both before buying.

Sounds like your new ride is awesome!
Can you elaborate on the "more of a luxury sedan interior" comment?
I thought the interiors were supposed to be substantially the same other than the seat material? Im sure I missed something...can you comment on the differences you are referring to?

It's probably mostly in the finishes and trim materials. Sort of like comparing the decor of a modern bistro to a chop house?

I’ve been comparing the Premium and GT models. I really wanted the GT but Ford makes you pay extra for all the things that come standard on the Premium such as glass roof and Bluecruise/360 cameras.
I get the GT has the better performance but it’s hard to pay an extra $8k USD for that performance. I don’t plan on taking the MME to the track. The GT is gorgeous but I can spend less than $8k with mods.

I originally reserved the 4X but eventually opted for the GT with the roof and BlueCruise. The quicker 0-60 was important to me plus the added bonus of the cool fascia & Glow Pony.

I understand it's a big scandal on the GT's trap speed at a 1/4 mile but I'm not sure my butt-o'meter would ever know what it's missing. I'm glad others are passionate about it and if it's improved soon, I'll be happy to benefit from that enthusiasm.

I think I would feel the 70-80 more, but it's still relatively a minor issue for me and I'm somewhat optimistic on that front.

While I have yet to receive my MME, I did originally compare the features and costs between the Premium and GT/GTPE.
First I needed a daily driver not a weekend toy so decided on the Premium
Next was the insurance costs, the Gt's would run me almost double what I pay for two cars currently.
Since I live in Delaware and we do get occasional snow in the winters and occasional trips to Upstate NY, I did not want to deal with Summer only tires and possible second set of Winter tires.
Now I have not driven a GT, but have put over 1K miles on various dealer demos over the past four months and the Premium AWD X was my choice in models.

Alternately, I have the GTPE and would love to drive the GTPE and GT back-to-back to feel the suspension (and seat/tires) differences! :)
