LOLOLOLOLOL now its me: 2022 GT - just over 5k miles. Driving at 70 mph in 93 degree heat, shortly after passing a car. My car cant be serviced until Aug 5. I have the recall software installed. The car says service engine soon with Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power and High Voltage Battery Warning in FordPass. I accelerate hard 4-5 times a week - not what I would've thought was WOT though. Never have charged on anything besides a level 2 at home.

My experience with the dealership so far has been good as far as ordering the car, financing, etc. But, I know they have no loaners to give out. Do I start a case with Ford right away or hang tight in regards to getting the updated part and/or loaner/rental?

Start a case and also see if they can find a dealer that can get you in sooner and has a rental contract

@JoeDimwit has been driving his car even after receiving the warning and reduced power. I would be like Joe and continue to drive my car until the dealer has the part and can do the repair. He has reported DCFC success and over 500 miles of driving after receiving the warning. Of course if you prefer to leave your car at the dealer and get a rental, that's fine also.

I'm more worried about getting the updated part. My fear are the codes being cleared and being told "you're good to go, now how about this windshield replacement program we can get you into for $1200?"

The recall states what must be done, so if they don't replace the HVBJB, they are incompetent. Which is possible, of course. I would ask the dealer if this is their first HVBJB replacement, and if it is, maybe see if there is another local dealer who has more experience with the failure.

They have to drop the battery and open it up, so it is significant work. They get paid for that work by Ford, so since they are in the business to make money, I suspect they would rather fix it than clear out the error and send you on your way.

Is your dealer EV "certified" by Ford?

You should be good, hopefully. Ask your dealer if they know about the recall and the process involved in fixing the car. If they give you the right answers, I wouldn't worry about it. Also, contact @Ford Motor Company using the information Todd provided in the OP at the start of this thread. They will assign a case number and ensure you get the right repair.

If you want a rental, others have reported Ford reimburses. Talk to Ford and see what they will do. Or just continue to drive your car, slowly of course!

Well, it's my turn apparently. After 6k miles of generally enjoyable driving, I went to start up the car , it wouldn't shift out of Park, after a few times trying to start the thing, I get the "Stop Safely Now" message. Damn.

Fortunately, it's in my garage, 3 miles away from the Autonation Ford Bellevue dealer. I'm happy I'm not on the side of the road, at least. But calling the dealer was an exercise in frustration. Initially they insisted that I'd have to pay for my own tow! Without boring you with details, let's just say it was a pretty irritating conversation until my call finally got passed to the service manager, who told me to call Roadside Assistance. Waiting for them to send me the text message about when the truck will arrive.

Ironically, I just got back an hour ago from the Electrify Expo Seattle, where I test drove the Lucid (I have one on order, it's really slick), rode a bunch of e-bikes, and scoped out the EV6 and other EVs. If my Mach E had bricked itself in the parking lot and had to get towed out, that would have been a bad look for Ford in front of hundreds of interested EV buyers!

Send me your VIN in a DM so we can help you and ensure you're taken care of.

By the way, I've only fast charged a half dozen times since buying the car, and the last time was several months ago. 99.9% of my charging is at home on a level 2 Ford charger. Wide open throttle maybe once every few weeks and never repeatedly. So basically none of the behavior cited as contributing factors to the HVBJB failure.

1.5 hours and still no contact from a tow company. I'd be pretty pissed if I were on the side of a highway.
