It‘s more likely related to chip or parts shortages than saving a few bucks.
Probably, but they really are testing people now. I'm bummed/annoyed that my nearly $70k GT doesn't have the acoustic glass, hands free lift gate, park assist (okay this one isn't THAT big of a deal), but if they dropped more features for no credit, I'd be out.

Thankfully, mine's on a train somewhere so it shouldn't matter, but I can see a few people backing out due to all this.

They sent everyone an email about the park assist thing, I think they would do the same for this.

Does it show on your window sticker?

There seems to be a lot of nice things dropping off the cars. While we can presume thus is part of the ongoing supply chain issues, we don’t actually know absent communication from Ford. Where is the line drawn? In any event adding this to the list is just another straw in the “Is the car worth it’ question. Only those with unbuilt cars on order can answer that. Where is the line drawn? And how will any piling on of deleted features effect resale value?

Wait - park assist dropped off too? How much more decontenting is Ford planning on doing to these cars? Are power seats next? Interval wipers? We should start a poll of features ford could decontent.

IMO the headlights are a big thing- it is one of the most visual things from select trim to premium/GT.

The park assist they changed it to a "ready" mod where you can "sometime" later pay to put in the full park assist... and they gave us a 375?$ credit but cannot promise that the cost of the item to put it in later is 375 or less...

That is poor CR on Ford, I honestly think if it was any other company but perhaps the american co's that they would have said "here is the credit and the item WILL BE 375" with the good at CR co's would say "Here is your credit, AND when it comes in, it will be FREE, thanks for dealing with it."

The headlights though.... those are expensive things... anyone ever replace a modern headlamp? its over 1k easy.

So what do you get for buying a premium mache, speakers? a slightly different barely noticeable "hood grill spoiler thing"

Right. All of the existing Mach-Es have LED headlamps and taillamps. The difference with the signature headlamps is they are projector style instead of reflector style, and they have the Mustang-signature tri bar look and signal wipe animations.
Yeah, they not only look way better but they are much more effective. The headlights are the reason all versions didn't get a "Top Safety Pick" award from the IIHS. I love the headlights on my Mach E, I'd be pissed if they changed my order to the crappier ones. Here's the IIHS page showing the difference:

I did get the email and credit for this, but the point still stands that things are changing after we order these cars. I knew about some of my changes before I ordered, however, a lot of people here didn't get the same benefit.

For what it’s worth, my Premium ER AWD order is schedule to be built 8/15, but I still appear to have the signature headlamps on both my order page as well as my window sticker.

I got the California Rt 1 so I probably got the "crappy" headlights right? Even if that's the case, they're really good, really bright headlights so no complaints here.
The lights on the Premium are total overkill. On dark roads, they blind everyone else. It is exactly like those cars you see that you think are driving along with their high beams on, but they’re not, that’s just how their low beams appear.

The signature daytime running lights do look good though.

That Lightning is getting similar decontenting as well. Platinum trim lost massaging seats and everything with a tow tech package looks like it is losing the onboard scales and smart hitch.

Either Ford realized the demand was so high they didn't need to protect these vehicles anymore and the supply cupboard is completely bare.

I was hoping stuff would be added back in if my order got pushed to MY23, but if this is gonna be the trend I'll probably get an EV6 instead.
