Unfortunately I just don’t think Ford can send 1-2 FE’s on a train or in a truck to a particular location. They need a full load somewhere in the process, all the way to the end. Plus the logistics of the assembly line. There’s just no way they can build and deliver all FE’s everywhere at the same time (or in exact reservation order) and also then not build other models until all that’s done. Will most of the 2000-5000 FE’s be delivered before all other 50,000 vehicles? Yep. A few days/weeks either way over the course of a 50,000 vehicle model year for a new BEV in a pandemic that closed the factory and suppliers is actual pretty good if you ask me. And no I don’t have a build date yet for my FE...This. Excellent advice.
Ford has worked wonders in just getting things started up again given the worldwide supply chain disruptions. They've actually made up some ground as well but we can't roll back the clocks completely. Look at late December deliveries as the equivalent of late September deliveries pre-pandemic. It's not that far off normal in that light.
It's worse in other manufacturing areas. I have 10 acres to mow and tend, I can't get a compact tractor or riding mower. I can't get a trailer to haul them in for maintenance. The dealers have nothing in stock and have no clue when any new stock is arriving. And used? Prices are higher in some cases than new ones. The dealers point to manufacturers, manufacturers point to parts suppliers, parts suppliers point to sub-component suppliers. On and on it rolls and will continue to do so unless SARS-COV-2 mutates out of existence or a widespread and effective vaccine is in place.
Take the car and enjoy being on the leading edge of a new and exciting part of the electric revolution. The tax credit will still be around all of next year. The rest of us are waiting for your delivery pictures and experiences.
