I just received a text message from 41040, first ever text message I receive from Ford, my dealer already reached out regarding my Premium EAWD order to tell me it will be 2023, they sent me the new order summary to sign, it's showing the new MSRP of $68370 instead of the old $58575, I guess according to this message, I am officially price protected.

So you're getting a '23 at your '22 pricing then?

Sounds like a win, except for the things they've taken away in the '23..?

The new rules for federal tax credit will apply if it is a MY 23 I believe.

Practically speaking, yes. But technically, if some people are very lucky and get their MY 2023 Mach-Es delivered this calendar year, they would still take advantage of the old rules.

Got the same message for a Premium AWD Ext Range ordered on Feb 10,2022. I am very unhappy that there will be any price increase over the price I ordered at. My dealer showed Feb 6, 2022 as the first order that rolled to a 2023 mode.

Is it just me or is this reading as that you can order any trim and get '22 prices.

You can only get '22 prices on a '23 if you have an existing order. You can't change an existing order or you will lose price protection at this point, so you can change your order to a GTPE without having to take on the price for a '23 GTPE without price protection, since it would be a significant change.

“Price Protection” and “Help offset the price increase” have different dollar values.
I believe the “help offset” is because the models and options don’t always necessarily match up 1:1 like if you convert a GT now it will technically come with the tech package from 22MY so it will likely be more expensive than what was ordered. Can’t say whether they will go the opposite direction when losing features like on a select though…

It's very complex, but you had to have had a non-refundable binding order before the tax bill was signed into law in early August to take advantage of the complete "old rules" even if your car is delivered in 2023.

If you take delivery in 2022, any North American-produced EV qualifies for the full tax credit without further complexity. This means you really want your 2023 MME to be delivered by the end of the year.

If it is delivered in calendar year 2023, there's new requirements further changing the tax credit:

--> car must not only be made in NA, but the battery must be made in NA with certain sourcing requirements of the raw materials

--> car must have MSRP of under $55k (cars) or $80k (SUV). Unclear if the MME qualifies as an SUV or as a car

--> purchaser needs to be under $150k individual income / $300k if jointly filing taxes

TLDR: you really want your MY2023 Mach-E delivered before Jan 1, 2023.

I don’t like “help offset”. That is a very specific choice of words on their part. They could legitimately give you $17 and say this “helps offset” the cost. Obviously it will probably be closer to the full amount, but I wouldn’t assume it’s the full difference until I had it in writing from my dealer.

Sounds like they made a new order for you, so you won't be price protected. They need to change the priority code on the old order, you shouldn't have to sign anything.

I would not take anything to the bank when it says help offset vs saying you are locked in at the '22 msrp. Get that clarified, I just don't believe Ford is that generous.

I have a ‘21 Premium AWD ER that was $56,440 MSRP that had foot activated liftgate, park assist, and before including the $600 BC cost. Isn’t my MME a better car then the ‘22 or ‘23?
