Sucks that everyone is going through this right now. I’m in the same boat. I’ve had my car in and out of the dealer in the last few months more than I thought it ever would be over its lifetime. Visits related to this single issue started with a no-start SSN that they patched prior to the official recall. Then the recall update. Then had the SVS issue that they “patched with another software update.” Had two instances of loss-of-power at startup before another SVS yesterday with 1/3 power/turtle mode, this time in the middle of my commute to work. They acknowledged the TSB today but told me this:
“Good Morning Zack. The tech has ordered the fuse panel in the high voltage battery. there is a new tsb that ford has put out on this issue. I do not know when or how quick i will receive the part. right now ford has a stop sale on the part, by tmrw my parts dept will know better on the issue with the part, i would possible think its because something is updated and maybe a part number change on it. I will let you know as soon as i know something.”
A stop sale? Either there’s some truth to the GT HVBJB having no ETA or my service department is hearing old news.

HI Guys,

Our '22 MME GT gave me the SSN after shutting it off to run in to a mini mart to buy a CA lotto ticket. Car was off for less than 5 mins. SSN -> Bricked. Car was perfect since we took delivery 4/18/2022. We have 7,030 on the Clock. Dealer has had it for (2) days and cant get to it to even diagnose for another week. Dealer can't provide a loaner or pay for a rental. I already started a case with the BEV and Ford chat. Now Ford Corporate is not responding to my request to get a rental paid for. What leverage do I have? I'm a Die Hard Ford guy since I started driving in 1990. Hearing this groups frustrations lets me know mine have just started. Is Ford required to provide a rental? My MME is without questions not driveable. Up to now I have been very polite and know everything in the Auto industry is stressed right now. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. By the way my Lotto ticket wasn't winner on any level....
Unfortunately, it looks like you have to go full Jackie Chan to get any velocity on these repairs. It's very clear by now that the GT's are failing the "not robust - Ford's words" - HVBJB at a pace that nobody within Ford realized could happen.

Also, it's very clear that this doesn't appear to be a problem to Ford's leadership in any way, shape or form. Neither of these things bode well for us owners.

I keep getting a lot of no eta from the dealer and the Care Team. At this point I’m pretty frustrated that I paid all this money and have to rent a beat up Toyota (again because of the rental shortages).

@Ford Motor Company what exactly are you guys doing to fix this for all the people that have had this issue come up in the last few weeks. It seems to be getting worse. Can you understand that you simply can’t charge 60k+ for a car with a GT badge and have people wait patiently to get it back?

I’m trying to be patient but it’s really hard when I have a car payment every month for a car I can’t drive.

It does appear they can do this and get away with it.

There are no secrets. Go and get a quote from Carvana, etc for your GT and don't be surprised at how low it is. I did, rejected the offer and got a phone call that explained these cars are timebombs and that the market knows this. Thank you Ford

Yup. Ford will lose many of the new customers it gained when it is time to move on from the car because of this, but they seem too shortsighted to save themselves.

Well, well versed. It helps to have a neighbor who does these for a living!

I know a lot of forum members have had this problem, but I am not sure it is as widespread as it feels like in the forum. I asked my dealer service department about it and they have no idea what I am talking about. Here is what the lead EV tech said:

"Referencing the Ford Senior Master Technician discussion board, a few instances have been seen where HV BJBs have been replaced for different DTCs. There is only that one thread regarding Mach E battery packs. One technician mentions there seems to be a concern with contactors welding shut when using DC fast charging stations. I can't find Ford letterhead saying this, so I will take it would a grain of salt until proven otherwise. Two HV BJBs and one full battery. All in California. That's all I have for reference. "

This is the forum bubble, where every problem ever found on a MME is reported. So maybe our perspective is a little skewed.

Do most of the Ford Senior Master Technicians know there is a discussion board?

i find it hard to believe that there is virtually no mention of the HvBJB issue out there.

if this forum is a bubble where every problem is reported, then Ev fast charging problems reported by people here don’t exist either.

just my skeptical self .

Of course I cannot answer your question, but it is clear this isn't an issue all EV qualified service departments have seen. If it were as widespread as we feel it is, I think it would be much more widely known.

I am beginning to wonder if there are conditions out west that make the HVBJB failure more likely. It seems like a lot of forum failures are in CA. High speed driving up long grades is more common in the west than out here on the east coast. Also, I don't think we have seen any EU forum member report a failure. Why is that?

I still think my HVBJB is going to fail, but I am more skeptical about it now. It might be a 150,000 mile failure instead of a 23,000 mile failure. Todd drives the crap out of his car and made it 23k. I don't have anything like the Grapevine where I drive, and I am not driving 80+ mph.

I am beginning to think my failure could be years away. Maybe even after I sell my car.

(Now I am going to get SSN tomorrow. ? )

I went in on 8/22 with SVS and the other error codes. It took a week to get to the point they acknowledged the HVBJB is the issue and ordered the part. Now both the dealer service department and Fords BEV team have responded about the backorder part and no ETA with 2 case numbers.
I Understand all the issues with parts and 1st gen but between a recall band aid, the lack of preparation, and minimal customer service experience related to a engineering issue its hard to see anything beyond Fords mismanagement.

I'm 8 days from a potential lemon law claim and if the same song is playing next week I will start that process. I love the car but I have been through a Ford warranty fix to a related (same part) out of warranty issue in the past and I'm not going to have that in the back of my mind.
Not to discourage going after lemon law - but would be a good idea to look asking Ford for a buy back/replacement car. They have an internal program that you can look into first. BEV support may shut down as soon as you talk about lemon law/lawyers.

I have a case in review. I asked for a new same spec or better 2023 replacement. Not likely to get that approved but you never know.

Next time your in Roanoke area just take your car on 311 heading out of Roanoke past Mackafee knob then drive as fast as you can “safely” on Blacksburg Rd through Catawba valley towards Blacksburg. You’ll get the failure on demand. Ask me how I know that ? Magic city is now pretty good at fixing HVBJBs if you decide to get the Rev D part…

I believe the part will fail if driven under certain conditions. Not everyone will drive in those conditions. Much easier to get those conditions in a canyon/mountain joy ride than it is on flat land. Even for a forum bubble issue this is a pretty high frequency if members effected.
